I left some time after the intermission so didn't see the end result of this 'laborious' movie, literally or metaphorically.
I'm rather shocked The Brutalist is considered Oscar material as its unoriginal, long winded, visually underwhelming and many glaring clangers.
Its not worth going into detail because people can make up there own minds and I'm sure the actors did their best. A wonderful cast who just didn't appear comfortable in there role and Brodys overacting grated which is around about the time I left the movie.
I have a great love of cinema on the big screen and The Brutalist didn't really need to be made.

Wake up. A not so new artist on the block deserves attention; the very interesting Sean Baker.
Sean Baker is your exceptional director right now.
Baker is right in the now, whilst drawing on the past and suggesting a future. Gee who would have thought.
Anoras a very sexy, intellectual rom com which presents you with truths - grubby or otherwise depending on your own experience.
Tangerine, The Florida Project (real America) are perfectly orchestrated movies and Anora lands the viewer into todays USA.
Bakers Anora reveals insecurity, carelessness, inequality, innocence, menacing and predatory behaviour, violence, exploitation, inequity, grief and 'how did we land here'.
Bright and Light. Thank you.

There's nothing new or compelling about this messed up mess.
Bad behaviour of the super rich, men and women isn't new and this neurotic take; isn't new. The 'trigger' warning at the beginning set a therapy tone. Unfortunate.
Contemporary cinema dealing with power disparity and abuse/disrespect and ongoing danger towards women is becoming more defined...off the top of my head I think 'The Triangle of Sadness', 'Saltburn', 'The Menu', 'Priscilla'....there are hundreds beating up and underestimating women. 'The Street Car Named Desire' , ' Great Gatsby - say no more.
Back to the drawing board.
