Their political criticism is good, I congratulate the team for their courage. But a-unfortunately it didn't seem funny to me at all. The first jokes that come to mind were made. Especially the acting of the side characters was very bad. But the movie was watched a lot at the box office. It was done and succeeded to make money.
This movie may be the most overrated movie in the history of cinema, in my opinion. There is nothing original about the story. The cinematography is not very good. Don't the gunfight scenes look amateurish? I don't want to miss the tip of the scale, it's not a bad movie. However, I think it is greatly exaggerated. Although it was discussed a lot at the time, they said it was a pedophilia movie and it was criticized a lot. It is even said that bed scenes were cut. I don't know, maybe that's why I'm biased. Or, on the contrary, someone may have taken extra care of the film because it was criticized a lot. Finally, acting is always exaggerated. Natali Portman may have given a good performance for her age, but Jean Reno has no tricks.
It is obvious that work has been done on the editing of the film. I watched the movie at first wondering who the killer was. It looks like a simple sherlock holmes story. Then suddenly things change. Four of us watched the movie together. The political references and different narratives in the scenes surprised us all. But the ending of the movie took a turn for the worse, just like in classic detective stories. The film started as a detective story, continued as a political film, and then ended as a detective film. In addition, the background details of the place where the movie takes place attract attention. I think there's a sculptor on the team. Even if the movie doesn't work, the sculptures definitely do. My only criticism is that the black and white parts were too long and could have been shorter. We watched the same things over and over again.
