I think it's commendable that the cheerleaders took the initiative to ask for a raise but I'm so disappointed in K & J because they were aware of the discrepancy in pay and never went to bat for them in ALL THOSE YEARS. To say "well, we didn't get paid well either" (I'm paraphrasing) is an inexcusable excuse!!!!!!! THEY should have been the ones to hammer on the execs every year until the pay was increased. They profess to care about the girls and yet never in all the years they've been there have they ever gone to bat for them and try to get them a pay raise that allowed them to have a decent living wage. Frankly, I don't respect them when I see that they apparently side with management.
Alfred's character is fabulously played by Jack Bannon. I hope to catch him in other series or movies.
The supporting players all do a fantastic job, as well......... his "mates", family members, protagonists (Bet, etc). I enjoyed watching them all.
The biggest disappointment, which never changed or improved, was Martha Kane (played by Emma Paetz) and Thomas Wayne (played by Ben Aldridge). They played their parts as if they were on a stage, in a play. There was something inherently fake about their performance. I kept expecting them to walk to the edge of the "stage" and take a bow after the show.
This continued through the whole series. I couldn't ever take them seriously or believe in their performance as actors. Consequently, I was never invested in them or cared about them.
Jack Bannon and the rest of the company, though...........outstanding performances.

Raul Julia was the ultimate Gomez in the original. Why they didn't go to Antonio Banderas is beyond me. I have nothing against Luiz but come on................ what were they thinking? Oh, we'll just play against type and everyone will believe he's a worthy partner for Catherine Zeta-Jones? I'm not saying he's a bad actor. I'm saying he's just not believable in any way to work in the role. Other than that, it's great fun and Jenna and the rest of the cast bring the story to life. I'll look forward to the next installment. Maybe we'll get lucky and Luiz will get offed in some way and they'll bring in Antonio for the new love interest. A girl can dream.
