  • For some, it will touch deeply and leave a mark!

Penn tells a story that should be told in this film... and with a mature, balanced view and without taking sides. Although the film is not a masterpiece; I don't think it is trying to be one. He is trying to tell a touching story as sincere as possible.

Young Hirsch has made a wonderful job with the character and performs with modesty and is a perfect fit for the role. The cinematography is worth the applause for the film truly captures the wild and brutal beauty of the wild. Or perhaps we should celebrate the efforts of Penn and his crew in this adventure he has lead us all into.

And of course the music... it is so in tune with the story that they are almost inseparable. As if they tell it through the two eyes on the same face; a lot of weight is on Eddie Vedder's shoulders. He has done miracles... just magic! This is a film most audiences will definitely like... but for some, it will touch deeply and leave a mark!

  • "uninterrupted" and connected... a film for the souls.

Nine uninterrupted lives... the key word here is "uninterrupted". The continuity and the flow of the stories give the audience the feeling of reality, the notion that you are there with all the characters (even if you do not identify with any of them) exactly at those moments. You just feel connected to them.

Of course the acting is perfect, but better than that... natural. Some are well known like Robin Wright Penn, Holly Hunter, Glenn Close, and Dakota Fanning. But none of the actors / actresses stand out, allowing one to concentrate on the story told through them.

And the single takes are especially successful, attaining the atmosphere of integrity; but they are also barely noticeable at the same time, because you feel so deep into the stories.

Surprisingly directed by a male director, Rodrigo García, who is the son of the Colombian Nobel winner writer Gabriel García Márquez. He apparently has a talent to dig to the core of human soul, "Nine Lives" has touched my heart.

Overall, this is one of those films which leave you with an awareness, a sense of being... a film that does not necessarily entertain you but somehow leaves you changed.

  • if you are looking for fun, nothing more!

The film is overall fun!... but not much more than that. Actually, there is nothing more than that! If you are a real Jim Carrey fan, you might even be a little disappointed because you can't see a striking acting performance for him either... he looks like he is actual being himself! But then again, if you only want to have a few laughs and have a little fun... than the movie does not leave you halfway through. There are nice dialogs and funny scenes that take you to the edges of giggling but unfortunately not much more! This one those movies that you can watch with a relaxed mind and do no thinking of any kind! A fun film for small satisfactions...
