This is one of those silly implausible films where characters find themselves in trouble and have to get out of it. There are explosions, automatic gunfire, stuff being blown up - the usual guff. However, Heads Of State didn't take itself seriously and made me laugh out loud. There were different jokes from the usual ones about the differences between American and English language/food/whatever and a lot of gentle mickey taking between the President and the Prime Minister.
Idris Elba and John Cena seemed to have fun making it and had a good chemistry. Cena may not be a great actor but he's way better than the likes of Liz Hurley and Vin Diesel.
I really enjoyed the film and it will be added to my list of film guilty pleasures.

I watch so many films that I have no memory of them but while I can't remember much of The Old Guard I remembered liking it so was looking forward to watching no.2.
Hmm. Disappointing. The same cast are back, with mentions of what happened in the first film which I can't remember as it was 5 years ago. Uma Thurman is a confusing part - 500 years ago she doesn't like the evil in the world because of what was done to Quen but now she's being evil herself? The reason is... selfish.
And then Andy and Quen go to save their friends and the credits roll. Eh? Are the producers hoping for a sequel because I doubt they'll get the finance based on this rubbish.
Do yourselves a favour - turn this one off and watch the first film again. No.2 is a total waste of time.
