There's so many intriguing questions that this film leaves unanswered. If they actually followed through with half the things they alluded to, then sheesh this might've been best horror movie of the year. Yet it kept me tense asf and entertained the whole time, despite naive character decisions that had me shaking my head. And the humorous tonal shift with Jason Long was brilliant to keep this film feeling well paced. The jump scares & dark humor made it extremely entertaining, although not too scary, but I was tight asf. The camera movements also attribute to the creepiness and the decent scares.
This felt a lot like another timeline version of Don't Breathe (2016)

So slow and tender. The opening credits sequence had me lit. Beautifully shot, well acted, and edited flawlessly. Although sometimes it's disengaging by the slow pace. A24 always does a great job of using highly intellectual concepts that test your ambiguity, but usually lack a little oomph in the narrative that makes this feel fulfilling, this film included. They surround it with too much mystery just to leave it open ended, which feels like lazy writing to me.
Regardless, I was intrigued and although some moments were a bore, I actually enjoyed the revelations of these sweet moments.

Predictable, cute, and hilarious. I may be biased because I'm a Jimmy Yang fan, but damn he's just so funny and lovable. He's not the best looking but he sure knows how to hold a conversation. The chemistry between him and Nina Dobrev was a little odd, yet endearing at the same time. The plot was so predictable, but I think they at least danced around it in an entertaining way. The characters & actors 100% make this an enjoyable movie without much help from the script or story. They play their stereotype well and carry out the cliche plot with a respectable and heartfelt ending. Kinda weird watching a Christmas love story so early in November but I'm here for it.
