When I watched ALI on TV, I was deeply moved even though I have no connection at all to this issue. . Everybody thought that the young actor was autistic, but indeed it's not the case ! Well-directed actors and a brilliant direction. I recommand it !
I love this drama-romance movie by great Moroccan director Abdelhai Laraki, that explore here (after Nedali's novel) the wild imagination of a frustrated young butcher full of desire and appetit for life ! The sexual freedom is a big issue in our muslim and patriarchal society. People have to be very inventive to get around the taboos ! Delightful soundtrack by Richard Horowitz, poetic and glamourous love scenes. Enjoy!
I saw this poignant drama at the Brussel film festival. Based on a true story, the movie deals with the corruption and the power of the money that exist in our Maghreb society! Beautifully shot in some amazing locations of Asilah and Larache in Northern Morocco.
