I'd never appreciated how deep in the pooh and close to disaster we came just before Churchill was made PM. Despite knowing some of the history the movie keeps the tension up bit like watching the Titanic but just a brief snapshot of part of WW2. I'd not realised he was that old when it was all landed on his plate to deal with. I watched on Netflix with subtitles running perhaps that's the best way for those struggling with the dialogue to watch. It's sad that some reviewers are dissatisfied with the lack of action instead of feeling encouraged the learn more. It feels like bits were left on the cutting room floor - perhaps a directors cut in future will fill out the story a bit more. I'd enjoy some more of the story of Winston and what he did in WW2.
Very pleased to find this on Netflix. I've seen it a couple of times. It puts a smile on your face in the first few minutes. I forgotten some of jokes and they had me laughing out loud before long. Just a great feel good movie with great humour no unpleasantness. Characters you like, cops you feel sorry for. There are more gadgets than a bond movie all of them humorous and quirky without being implausible. A car chase like no other with a getaway car that doesn't rely on horsepower and burning rubber. The soundtrack by Penguin Cafe Orchestra fits perfectly. We need more movies like this and less crash bang wallop CGI save the world stuff from impending doom.
