It appears even with a comedy as good as "Dollface" there will still be haters. Well, I say screw them. I gave the show a chance for myself and it is incredible. Dennings, Mitchell, Song, and Povitsky really nail it. Being a guy myself, I could relate to some of the things happening to Jules. I can definitely relate to always feeling like a failure. Everyone has insecurities and everyone has break ups. The cast is spectacular and the writing is top-notch comedy. Brilliant from start to finish. Looking forward to more
I wanted to give "Kenny" a chance because I recognized some of the actors and thought the plot line seemed engaging. Although I haven't seen anything else McCurdy has written and didn't know her from anything else besides the Nickelodeon children's show "iCarly", I still expected this short to be great. It unfortunately was not. I honestly couldn't even finish it that's how bad it was. The beginning looked promising, but went downhill very fast. The name's sake was the only likeable character and the dialogue just didn't roll with the pacing like it should have and felt forced and awkwardly delivered. However, her directing skills were not all that bad for an amateur. I give the directing a 4, but the overall movie was a 2 for me.
I finally got to see this movie with some friends and I mainly wanted to for Anna Faris. I have to say I left kind of disappointed. The movie overall was pretty bland. All the actors seemed to be phoning it in and it all just felt way too underwhelming. I wanted to like it, but it came up short for me. Also, never seeing the original, I am not reviewing this as a remake. I am reviewing this as a singular movie.
