This back story for Mila, is interesting even for adults. Still a story where teen don't tryst adults or adults are represented as people who don't listen, like Mila's disconnected mother. That said the universes are interesting, the operators are scary and the bad guy/gal are foreboding. I haven't watched all the episodes, yet, so no spoilers. I can't say if today's teens would enjoy this film, but it's a great opportunity to introduce young people to foreign films that aren't in their native language and get them to practice reading subtitles. I prefer this to dubbing, Dubbing gets in the way of viewing actors performances in my opinion. I have watched many films in Spanish, Mandarin and French, but only a few in Portuguese. It was fun.
I do maintain that the adults in teen movies are poorly written, lacking depth and sensitivity. Given how poorly Mila's mother treated her, why is she even looking for her? What kind of back story doesn't explain this incongruous? Maybe they will do an episode to cover it. I hope the future episodes treat adults with more respect and realism. As these Multiverses are dangerous and the operators destroy them, it's a serious topic that I believe teenagerscwould appreciate. Treating it lightly seems very unlikely.

For over fifty years Star trek as been a friend. Over the years visits have felt like that, a visit from an old friend. This newest version repeats these old feelings. I found myself just smiling thru it. Especially as each episode ends, I just smile. I have enjoyed the Picard and other newer series of star trek adventures but this one felt the most like the original, the friends as I know them and it just makes me smile. Fun, even funny, complicated relationships, stories that have a meaning beyond the story itself. Not so complicated that one can just have fun. I love these.
Thanks for not feeling it necessary to recreate old technology from 1960 TV. It's fine. I love the new characters and how they interweave with old friends.
The personal feelings I have for these characters and stories has always surprised me. And as I age I am pleased to find that I am not alone. Thank you for making something that fills this unexplainable need. I am still smiling.

This isn't sleeping beauty this is a women over fifty Tarantino like film. And because there isn't any naked women fighting with their boobs that 87% male review guys didn't like it. I am embarrassed by all the female reviewers who so desperately want to belong to the male club that they trash this film. Someday they will be over fifty as well. I am sure these same men will still not respect them.
As for the film, it did need better writing. But the five experienced actresses do move with this than male stars have accomplished with bad Tarantino scripts. Yes, there is blood but on par for other contemporary Noir films. Only women understand the issues between mothers and daughters and only women understand what it means to be used by the businesses they make profitable. Men expect to be promoted, women aren't surprised when they are simply used.
I love the library! My favorite quote "it's good to have children in the Library again".
In a movies where mafia like businesses run the country and are "strangers in their own homes" because they have daughters one can't help but appreciate what that would mean to a women who still has to earn a living. Someday all the little girls who review films on this site will understand this film and come back to it. It is about to become a legend! Go home boys and girls, this is a story for grown ups.
