In Snatch! A British actor I hadn't previously heard of outshone some of the finest actors of the time.
He then became an action star, never top shelf, but a bit more charismatic and a lot more likable than most of the American counterparts.
What has he come to, judging by this movie?
It is a few steps above Steven Seagal, but many, many more steps beneath Jason Bourne.
I find elements of half a dozen movies, and nearly as many genres, but sadly the result is not a synthesis, but an exercise in bad writing.
Ranging from the almost moving to the utterly ridiculous, this will kill an evening. But then, why would you want that evening dead? If no one else will keep you company, Jason is still less annoying than the competition, but expectations will have to be kept very low.
Good movies don't have to be expensive; I really like Hummingbird, for example. By comparison, this cost much more, and achieved much less,

As a very young man (well, oldish boy) I needed movies. That is "needed" with a capital N and a capital everything else.
So, when a sequel was announced to Mad Max 2 (The Road Warrior), I survived just to watch that movie.
And ...
Exactly.
The worst thing wasn't even that it was an extended Tina Turner video clip (a great artist, no offense intended). The worst thing was that it ridiculed Max.
In short, that's what happened here.
Antoine Fuqua has made some of my favorite movies from the last two decades, but this one I wish I hadn't watched.
Terrible, dragging, predictable buildup to a couple of - dare I even say - violent climaxes, which ruin the character of R. McC.
Not recommended for anyone.
