  • Wonderful Classic Heartwarming Movie

I really liked this movie so very much. I did not get in on the beginning, but when I saw the cast I knew it had to be a classic. I love the old Black and White films. Was raised on them on television. Claudette Colbert and Joseph Cotton were so good together as best friends, and her husband gone off to help fight the War. His almost grown two daughters left behind with the Mother Claudette Colbert. Showed how things were back then, and how hard it was waiting letters from sweethearts, husbands, and fathers. Dreading receiving telegrams.

It is a very warmhearted movie, with something for everyone who is a movie buff of the old movies, when Movie Stars were larger then life. I liked being able to recognize many character actors in this film. The navy man in the bowling alley I recognized as Guy Madison. It must have been one of his first movie roles. He was blonde, and so very young. I canceled watching some new movie on LMN to watch this movie to its end. Jennifer Jones and Shirley Temple were the daughters. I never had seen them in a film together. They seemed to fit their roles very well. I really got a feel for the canteens where young women from the town were encouraged to come to dance with the lonely soldiers. Many young men and women found their sweethearts that way. Young women did all they could to help the war effort by helping out at the red cross. Wonderful movie even though one might need a hankie or two. These kinds of movies are hard to come by these days, because there was just so much genuine feelings throughout the movie. It makes watching it as if you bring away from it not just that it is a good story, but that you felt like you might have relived a part of history for those who were not even born as yet at the time this movie was made, but it gave you feeling you were having a birds eye view of how it was.

  • One Night With The King- Wonderful Movie for all ages!

I loved this movie. The special effects were every bit as fantastic as the Mummy. The story was very well done. I was so impressed at how the story begins, and to make it easier to know what is going on they went back to tell about how Saul disobeyed God and how it caused all kinds of problems for the Isrealites later on. I loved the actors. Seeing the greats of Film coming together to make this picture a success. Tommy Tenney can be proud of the book and film he and his co-writer wrote for this movie that I feel will be as great as any of the others about the Bible. It had an impact on me and I so loved how the young woman they call Esther is so believable in her part. Each actor gave you the feel that one was really looking in on this era of time. It is romantic, it is amazing, the script is humorous, and it is enrapturing. I was intrigued and captured by the glamor and the lovely sets. I cannot say enough about this must see film. I have watched it maybe three times. Family, friends, general public cannot help but be entertained by this very fine story of a young woman risking it all for her people. Awesome film. I hope TBN keeps on making these valuable Films that are what we Christians want to see. Thank You TBN for not caring what the critics say, because they will always try to discourage you, but persevered and made a spectacular film.

  • Anne Hathaway - Another entertaining film-laugh a little, grind your teeth some too! Laughs

I saw Anne Hathaway in Ella Enchanted and she was so great in that with Hugh Dancy..wow is he ever handsome. Then I saw her in the Princess Diary. She was so good in that as well. She is a good actress, and always makes each part she plays believable. Meryl Streep was wonderful as the bossy, conceited and demanding, controlling boss and editor of a High Fashion magazine. No one's life is their own when they work for high profile big wigs in business. One really gets a small taste of the mad rush to get everything together, and on her desk when she wants it. Pressure is exerted on everyone. People vie to work for Meryl Streep, and Anne comes in as just someone who needed a job, and did not even know what kind of business it was. It has many laughs, and astounding behavior from these fashion moguls that fancy themselves more important then any other people, but also shows the side that is the dog eat dog life style that is really repugnant to most people. It was funny in spots, has romance, and some very intense moments where you find yourself talking to Anne to get out of that business, who needs a boss that mistreats you and your time is never your own, she keeps her running hither and yon and only to do her bidding. It appears Meryl Streeps character has no heart, till the end, and then you find the answer to that question in your mind. Once was enough for me on this film. I liked the film. Good film!
