This show has no plot, no character depth, no storyline, except who is having sex with who, in what position, and how many times. The friends only talk about sex, the couples do nothing but have sex, and these are all 18-yr-olds in college talking about how "that was the best orgasm of my life" like they've lived 40 years having bad orgasms. It's disturbing to hear 18 year olds talking about all the sex they had in high school. The sex scenes (of which there are multiple in every episode) are very graphic. This show feels like an excuse to normalize porn by pretending there's a scripted storyline. I have yet to find it. In addition to sex, everyone just gets drunk and "does blow" all the time and it's all depraved and glorified and normalized. Terrible show.
I was into the first couple of episodes - Peter is a likable character and a convincing action star. However, you slowly get introduced to more and more main characters, and every single one is a female. The president is a female. Her chief of staff is female. The VP's kid is female. The VP's kid's SS handler is female. The bad guy is female. The elderly spy who keeps a shotgun in her umbrella stand is female. And the victim of the whole crime that started this thing is female and is now running the show. Peter is basically her bodyguard as she twists and turns through the mystery of what happened to her aunt and uncle, while all the other females of the show assist her and figure it out while the dumb males sit idly by waiting for their next instructions. A promising show wasted on female empowerment. Will not continue.
This show is awful. Like if Lifetime wanted to create a western and added exorbitant amounts of violence so that people would take them seriously. "Well our writing is bad, so put in 4 extra scalpings, some bones protruding out of the skin, some toes getting cut off, and an axe in someone's skull cuz that's what big boy movies do." The violence is so nonsensical. One guy with a partial scalping bleeds for days and the blood never stops or dries. He just always has fresh blood on his face no matter how much time has passed. One guy with the worst broken leg I've ever seen is up skipping about just days later, proclaiming, "I'm stronger than ever before!" And when people aren't being cut open, the animals are. Lots of slaughtering. Just gotta have blood on the screen at all times. The female characters are insufferable. The most likable female character is the Shoshone girl, Two Moons, who can't speak. Sara is intolerable, acting brashly and stubbornly and stupidly at every turn in the name of "being a good mother." Abish just gallivants around with the Shoshone while she knows her husband's searching the wilderness for her. I didn't respect any of them or feel inspired or awed by their stories at all. Except Two Moons. I literally laughed out loud at some of the dialogue. Especially the love story at the end. Lifetime was like "this is where we shine!" and then threw in some more violence just to top it off. This show is completely nihilistic. There is no redemption, no inspiration. There is no levity, no joy. Everyone is evil or killed by evil. It did nothing to honor the pioneers of America. Not sure what the writer wanted our takeaway to be - that the soul of America is blackened by violence and hatred? Maybe you're projecting. It's a pretty great country with lots to be inspired by, none of which was portrayed in this series.
