  • A terrifying masterpiece

One of the most hair-raising moments of television ever. This will scare you to your core on how we mankind, are so inching ever closer to our own destruction.

Those in the west who have been sick, are sick and living its effects will never recover from the radiation that has come from this cloud that that hung over Europe.

It's DNA-altering to the lives of the children from that era and it will never be known for centuries. We have forever been changed by its effects we are seeing so much of in the serious illnesses and family's having children with physical and mental illness. This rise can be linked to the time of this time the place and year of 1986 in Chernobyl, Ukraine.

'Chernobyl' isn't perfect and it does favour fiction over fact, in some areas, but it does a commendable job at capturing the tone and essence of the disaster and its aftermath. Something that could not have been accomplished without a spectacular score.

Enter Hildur Ingveldardottir Guðnadóttir, who created the music by recording the sounds of a decommissioned power plant in Lithuania - A hauntingly beautiful soundtrack that is both ominous and frenetic.

Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard and Emily Watson form part of the ridiculously good ensemble cast.

The Emmy Award winning show warrants a deep dive into history and for the complete experience - listen to the podcast.

I would also like to take my hat off to the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to save the rest of humanity.

Could this happen again? Well hasn't it almost every year since - politicians lying, disinformation aka fake news, cover ups & the human cost measured in the thousands.

Chernobyl is thought provoking & doesn't shirk the terrible human loss of the time & yet to be fully measured. This show is a must-see.

  • A must-see documentary about Romania that is relevant everywhere.

Gripping, incisive and shockingly powerful, "Collective" is easily the best documentary of 2020. The documentary shines a light on a specific crisis in Romania, while reminding viewers around the world of the importance and power of the free press.

If Collective doesn't make you angry, you're simply not paying attention. It plays like a political thriller, but it's also a deeply moving testament to both the power and the necessity of investigative journalism.

As its title suggests, Alexander Nanau's Collective is a moving testament to the mutual bonds of solidarity that spring up between people in opposition to a common threat.

More literally, it's about the fire that ravaged Bucharest's Colectiv nightclub in 2015, in which sixty-four people (26 on site, 38 in hospitals) lost their lives. Collective follows the tireless work of two sports journalists, Catalin Tolontan and Mirela Neag, as they attempt to uncover exactly why dozens of people who escaped the tragedy with non-life-threatening injuries nevertheless died in the hospital in the weeks that followed.

This distressing documentary has relevance way beyond Romania. It's a documentary about a few things: journalism, what we should expect from our government, and how to figure out the truth when people don't want you to know.

The fire happened in Romania, but it could probably happen everywhere, the title encompassing all of us. Watch and wonder at the splendor and misery of the human race.

Nanau's documentary shares the same tenacity as its two subjects, doggedly working away to expose layer after layer of institutional rot with unflagging energy.

It's a searing watch: with clear eyes and zero tempering of the brutal facts, it lays bare the viral insidiousness of corruption and demonstrates that, when faced with such a pervasive enemy, there are limits to what even the most outstanding investigative journalism can do.

For what it shows us about the homicidal potential of corruption and lies, the incalculable value of a healthy press and healthcare system,.and even the importance of proper disinfectant use. Collective finds relevancy far outside of Romania's borders.
