I love FILM. Not an elitist but quality stories well lit well photographed well written well acted in any genre can make my movie experience a worthy time. Good film transports like all art, visual art with a awesome soundtrack is why Bladerunner remains my favourite film. I want my flying cars, im WAITING as said in Vecinis voice from the princess bride.another fav. Loved recently watched alot of thrillers.Superhero movies besides Deadpool are already Forgotten to me.
I will try to be honest.

  • Well Crafted tense & Suspenful

    Wow liked this one!

Its too bad movies assembled this well, with a simple yet terrifying story to tell, are so rare. It didn't need gore to utterderly be one of the most disturbing stories on film this year.. Only because of how EASY & POSSIBLE it ALL is. And how easy it is for people we think we know to suddenly and casually have us at their mercy. I think the less you know the better because the movie unfolds intself very well. The acting was pretty seemless as such normal natural folks everyone was playing. Post office dead letter dept. And a kinda early hacker who hears some stuff. Of course the 3 main men: Joshua, Jasper & Trent were played well Again the banality of evil...is the creepiest thing about a partnership that could have survived and been quite fruitful-- if Trent wasn't such a headcase psychopath who wanted to control Joshua by pretending it was a genuine equal team. Was this suppressed homosexual attractive. Poor Josha going down those steps we already knew by then there would be a body count to keep him from going to his dream job. I loved the pace. Not rushed but not slow and boring because we dont know how far people will go to cover up what their other cover-up forced them to engage in. Worth watching for fans of good suspence.

  • Pretentious, Hollow & Ultimately a time thief

Wow I had this on my list for ages since I have Shudder included in my package. That means I've seen the first 15 min of SO many 'trips to the country gone wrong-- mostly in Ireland; till I cannot distinguish but 2 that are good. Good 3 out of 20 so of course things like this are a nice change. This film feels like un unfinished Cronenberg job from the 90s. Its basically an awkward film about the women that get lost & killed in the world . And Blood Legacy crap.

First the acting in this goes from ok to just abysmal. Same with dialogue, just all vague then sounds possibly decypherable but then we are again flung out to the outer edges of movie logic. After 95 minutes I was bored & ready to quit but it appeared something about these transformative females ( and a few men) were about to be explained in some form of storytelling thats just really vague. But NO, it goes into some mild body horror repetition of the opening which came across as lazy and pretentious. American Horror Story HOTEL did stuff better. Exhausting to stay involved. Why do directors think this makes sense in a horror--(which also had the word comedy attached)? No funny stuff here. Not scary, not interesting. I will admit there's always defenders of this stuff. Just know that they like being confused and bored.

  • Well done Suspense & Retribution

Scotland, where the best actors often hail from. I am an unabashed Liam Cunningham fan. He's so authetic because he's an actor, not a movie star. This film lets him be dark sullen and ominous as a character who has business with EVERYONE in a small precinct in a small Scottish village. I liked the pacing no dragging and as expected from a Scottish film good punchy dialogue. There's quite alot of other punching too. I liked that the film delivers the tension as it opens up each of the sins/ punishments of all these unlucky folk. There IS a kind of salvation offered, but you know people!!LOL Its got effective limited music, great cinematography, not too dark (well some sawing occurs but only its aftermath is shown ) and a survivor in the mix . We are all sinners after all.

That may not be as advantageous as it sounds. Flashbacks & fill-us-in scenes are not overdone. In all wellmade. Good story. All the cast do so well. I wish all thriller/ suspense films had this quality of acting & production values. Especially when the story works well. Recommended.
