So, while the victims and the families deserve nothing but compassion, the show itself is terrible. Compare it to good investigation stories like the "American Murder" miniseries or the "Gone Girls" miniseries and this is SO FAR from being half as good. This is basically 2 hours split through 3 episodes of moms and friends telling stories about 3 people; this is NOT a show about a valiant investigation involving the FBI, canine units, local units, a ton of civilians helping, etc., this is a show about moms on a sofa. I have no idea how this was green lit with this show structure, I'm sure that the story could have been WAY more compelling if it had been 90% about the investigation and only 10% about the biography of the victims, but it's the opposite; it's literally 3 moms saying: "look at how much of an angel my kid was" over and over, like broken records. I was highly disappointed and I'm blaming the production team...
So, this movie probably had some potential, but it's SO bad, that you're not missing anything if you've never seen it.
I can't exactly pinpoint ONE big flaw that ruined everything, but it's just ultra cringe all along. It's supposed to make you laugh, but it's gonna make you roll your eyes, nonstop. I saw a review praising the director for "knowing Texas", so maybe this movie was just not for me, being that I'm not from Texas and know nothing about said state, but at the same time, if ONLY people from Texas are supposed to like it, that wouldn't be a great recipe in my opinion...
"Bernie" is also kinda mocked, which is a bit unusual for a biopic... As much as his story is unusual and comedic, you don't need to make him look like a delusional sheep... Maybe that's because he's played by Jack Black though. I'm not a huge fan of Jack Black, to be fair, because I think that he does that WAY too much (the stupid, gullible, innocent character). I was hoping that seeing him in a biopic would show that he can play something else, but alas...
This movie is just a big "how did this get greenlit" question for me... Avoid unless you're massive fan of Jack Black, in which case, sure, go ahead. I don't have anything against Jack Black personally, he's just "not my type".

I was excited to see a biopic about Bob Dylan; even though I'm not his biggest fan, I like some of his songs and I know nothing about his story, but this movie is a big "what the heck" for me, because something minor completely ruined it...
That would be: having Timothée Chalamet trying to imitate Bob Dylan's voice and accent and failing miserably. Everything else about his acting is perfectly fine but the voice thing almost made me stop watching before reaching the second half; it's that bad. I wouldn't even blame him for that, he tried; I would blame the casting agent OR the director. Either cast someone else OR accept that he's not gonna hit a homerun on the voice and have him try a more "normal" voice.
The story is also somewhat boring but THAT, I could have accepted more than the voice, to give you an idea of how bad the voice was... To keep talking about the story though: maybe it was not worth making a movie about Bob Dylan in the first place... He's pictured as a rude, immature narcissist but nothing more... There's no big drama, no big plot twist, no big compelling event, unlike in: "Elvis", "Love & Mercy" or "Bohemian Rhapsody", for example.
I would dodge this (130ish minutes) movie if I was you; I'm happy that it was financially successful, truly, but it's pretty obvious that it interested people because of the big name involved and not the quality of the movie...
