This movie was surprisingly good. I watched it expecting nothing either way and was pleasantly surprised. It was rather dark for more scenes than I would like to see filmed but it did add to the mysteriousness. The acting was all around good. The premise was good. The 'beings' had a visceral and tangible presence, especially with the snapping/wind tunnel effect while also being fleeting and leaving you wanting to know more about them. That is my only disappointment actually. In all of it, I found the family dynamic well thought out and well rounded but overall it left me wanting more. More backstory, more about the creatures and more about what the kids were going to do and what they found after everything. So. I suppose the movie did what every good movie should. Leave you wanting to know more.
What a wonderful mini-series! I was browsing and fortunately stumbled across this. Never heard of it before, which is such a shame. I could have easily missed it. Can't believe this has been out for 8/9 yrs and I'm just finding it now. Way better than expected. I got bored a few times to be honest but it kept sucking me right back in. I had to know what happened and I'm so glad it didn't get stuck where I thought it was headed. Amazing they could pull all of that together so seamlessly. I'm truly impressed with the acting all around and the very true to expectation settings. It was certainly made with a fierce delicacy. A nice well rounded package of multiple genres. So pleased!
It could be because the DC Aquaman movies are so incredibly cheesy that there isn't much to live up to but I enjoyed it. I had a feeling of "That's it?. I want to see more of this developed" so I would be down for a show of the same. It was before it's time and gets major props for that as far as I'm concerned. It's a shame because they won't be able to use the main character now or later but maybe this is popping out as a test to see if a show would be a good idea or not. Who knows. Something about this premise was well done enough to hook me. Just enough true mystery intertwined with the storyline. Better than other stuff I've watched.
