The Rings of Power is visually stunning with decent attempts at world-building and surrounds itself with what should be an interesting storyline, but it falls short in capturing the magic of The Lord of the Rings saga. While the creatures, costumes and props all look appropriate, the storyline feels a bit flat and lacks the depth of character development that made Tolkien's works and the films so compelling. The pacing is uneven, and some subplots feel underwhelming. It's a decent watch, but it ultimately leaves you wanting more excitement and emotional resonance. I'd continue watching if more came out but I take what they do with this show, with a grain of salt.
A fantastic tribute to not only the Peter Jackson films but to the essence of the Lord of the Rings, with a twist! I originally saw this at a film festival about 2 years ago and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The film actually being a comedy is a great spin. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is clearly expertly crafted with love and passion. The camera work feels just like PJ Films and also the production design is INCREDIBLE. I found the short again recently on YouTube and it brought me here. If you're a Degrassi Fan, you're in for a treat! I loved seeing some of my favourite Degrassi actors on screen together again. If you're a Lord of the Rings Fan, this is absolutely a MUST WATCH!
