Witty, detailed, funny, insightful, distinguished, beautiful, exciting, educational, fun, and all at a fast pace. Filmed in some of the most extraordinarily beautiful places it is a delight to the eyes, senses, and anyone who loves art, sneak-thiefs will get a kick out of this. Plus, it is superbly acted.

If you do that, having seen any True Detective's or not, you will not be disappointed. A style all his own, honed from living where he did, how he did, and coming up they way he did. It simply needs to be heard, read, and while Nic removed his name from the film disappointed by fiddlin' by the director's 'image' of what she wanted, after hearing this you can't seem to blame him. He did his due diligence and knew what he wanted the film to be: the book. Nothing more. Just his book.
A book better than the film, but a film's depiction of a book so good it lingers like the humidity does after storms. Any storm.
This dramatically different approach to story building captures you with several stories intersecting simultaneously. There's the guy with the white van who's the mysterious unsub yet to be introduced. There's the two main characters at different stages and ages of life working without a net who knows they're onto something bigger than they truly realize but the observers sense as well which lands them in a lush situation to continue. The woman change catalyst. I can't say enough good things about this show. Using virtual unknowns is brilliant. Showing us step by step and missteps is even more brilliant. Please move as slow as you can to bring us from 1977 to 2017. I'm in for the long haul. Watch, listen, and learn. I've found no fault with anything. Everything matters. And it shows.
