  • Very enjoyable film

Firstly I saw this without reading any of the ridiculousy negative reviews. I have to say that as a lover of the sci-fi, suspense, thriller genre. Alien, Alien 2, Prometheus etc. This was a hugely enjoyable and gripping film with a great cast, I've been a fan of Jake Gylenhall since Donnie Darko and is consistently excellent. This had a different plot to the usual and great effects and acting. I can't believe I've overlooked this until today. The IMDb rating is low, but I have seen films with a high rating and they turn out to be duds, like the Brutalist!

All in all a very enjoyable film which kept me gripped. Recommended.

  • Vastly overrated

Whilst this is a true story, and is a sad tale unfortunately it doesn't make a good movie.

Never would have watched it it wasn't for the absurdly high Imdb rating. Very predictable and more of a TV movie. Whilst sex trafficking goes on, I don't feel I need to watch a film to understand it. The acting was ok, tbh I like to watch a film that stimulates, challenges or moves me. Sadly this didn't do any of the above. I don't really know what else I can say about this, if people give this 10/10 then how would they score Schindler's List? Unrealistic reviews and scores are turning me off Imdb. Average at best a 4.5/10 for me.

  • Disappointing

I watched this film because of the directors, actors inspite of the subject matter.

Whilst I could appreciate the quality acting and cinematography, I was underwhelmed by the story. If it wasn't for the things already mentioned then this would have been a very tedious film. It was interesting to see the excellent Oscar Isaacs in his first major role and I'm glad he choose better subject matter in his subsequent films.

I appreciate that I didn't find the "plot" of the film particularly engaging, but then a good film can make you enjoy a subject regardless. I just found this hard work and a bit disappointing all around, the high rating was a bit misleading too...
