This is worth the watch for the cinematography alone, which is outastanding. The acting is fairly good. The story is unrealistic. Seeing it on the big screen would be awesome.
This is a gritty story about the sociology of a school playground. It's also an account of love. Do you remember your school playground? How did we get out alive?
Nero Wolfe was not this jolly or personable. Archie was not a circus clown and was not going to get married. Fritz was not "Olaf". This was a complete miscasting and horrible screenplay. I gave a generous 3 for the effort of putting a Nero Wolfe on the big screen.
Ann Dowd should have received Best Actress for this. Also, Mass should have been at least nominated for best picture. Very moving film with strong dialogue throughout. Again. Ann Dowd was outstanding. You wonder about the Academy sometimes.
Forget that having sex with a client is illegal and raping a client is illegal, a story filled with so many other holes should be illegal too. This movie was just okay. There are many better erotic thrillers out there if that's the genre you're looking for.
I guess this was bad enough that critics loved it. It was like getting caught in the rain after your car breaks down and then needing shots. Oh yeah, that was one of the more exciting parts of the movie.
The whiskey and wine industry must have supported this boring, tedious film. I gave it a 2 because Jennifer Lawrence was in it. Although dude dumped her twice. Can't understand why some critics loved it. They were probably drunk.
This movie was sad, shocking, funny, violent, sweet, and mysterious. The last scene makes watching it truly worth the while.
Bitter Moon is bitterly bad. I cant believe the good reviews. Most of them brag on the director but as a measly movie watcher, this was a poor story poorly acted.
I loved watching the original Bob Ross shows. But I was just "meh" with the documentary. It seemed like a "sour grapes" venting by the Jenkins', and Steve Ross, and a diatribe againsted Bob Ross Inc.
First of all, the cinematography is stunningly beautiful. Secondly, the story is gripping to the point that I yelled at my TV on occasion. Third, the acting was superb. Finally, the story would have irked me some except that I learned that Joanna Hogg wrote the script based on her real-life experiences while attending film school in London in the early 80's. Bundle that all together and I give it an 8.
...not in a good way. I gave it a 5 for effort. It isn't nearly as good as the hoopla though.
Everything about this film is beautiful. And that David Lynch is a character in it? Wow!!
