  • Highly credible, destined to be a classic horror with clear lessons for the modern world

This is a monumental movie. It is a sleeper hit which is bound in the years to come to become as classic as The Thing has become.

Firstly, the acting and quality of the movie is emotive and carefully done. The director, crew and actors all put their heart and much thought into the movie. You can sense they feel for the serioussnes of the subject matter. Some may feel the behaviour of the students were unrealistic. This is not so. The younger generation of today acts and behaves and feels exactly like these students. Many of the youth today feel a despondency about the world's future - a sense of hopelessness and self-destruction which leads them to try to lead short lives filled with gaiety. The film is an abject lesson to all of todays youth that their attitude will change.

Secondly, the film's scientific basis has a deep moral lesson for humanity today. Whether it be parasites, a meteorite strike, swine flu or an alien virus, the movie depicts just how easily mankind can be annihilated by his own brave little misadventures. Humans! Look into the dark spaces too far, and see your own doom! The movie can very well happen today in reality - look at our scientists conducting research on extremophiles. It is possible for these to adapt to become modern killers. They might well have done so in aeons past when brought up from the depths.

  • One of the greatest HK movie love stories

I am writing this to raise awareness of this truly fabulous movie.

This movie comes from the genre prior to the HK handover in 1997 and flies with a flock of very outstanding HK movies known for the quality of the acting, engaging plot and very strong chemistries between the actors.

This movie, also known as Endless Love, is about a way to enjoy real life, find love in it and yet strive through all the struggles. It is about love, laughter, sadness, ups and downs all rolled into an enthralling story. It is a story unique to an Asian lifestyle so expect it to be quirky and humorous at times. In this movie, a broken hearted down and out songwriting artist moves to live in an apartment. Gradually a bond develops between himself and a young girl living downstairs. Until tragedy strikes again.

  • I feel it will become a classic like Alien

(This is my first review comment so I hope it is OK) Resident Evil is based on the video game (VG) franchise developed by Capcom. My understanding of the VG is that it is about a dark time in the future when a "T virus" developed by a megacorporation for military purposes escapes into the public and begins to re-animate dead people. The movie does not drift far from this plot but has some particularly compelling twists.

    1) As much as the VG is about a dark megacorporation, the movie captures this ethos quite succinctly. The attitude of the corporations agents and officers mirror what you, I or anyone could turn into if we were to more vigilant in our own workplace. It is a dark future and the movie captures the mentality of those salarymen, even the mercenary soldiers, quite well.

    2) The acting is very purposeful and there is good chemistry. I believe Milla had a role in this because she has a natural flair for adding a unique and useful dimension to a cast as well as projecting her own self as she did in 5th element. The actors quite clearly have looked at the VG and they all do a good job of capturing the feel of the VG and its mysterious, perplexing surroundings.

    3) I believe it will become a classic like Alien because the movie has so much to tell about how things could go so horribly wrong in humanity's future. This is not just another zombie flick of supernatural resurrection made by John Romero. The movie adds a new epic dimension spawned out of the dark imaginations of the best imaginations in Tokyo. The movie falls into the same genre as Akira or Ghost in a Shell - a retelling of a dark forbidden future where you get to see what you could become like were you to live your whole life there.
