  • End Of Arnie

End of days is one of the movies that marks the downturn of Arnolds career. For me this is the movie I always stumbled upon halfway through on late night TV, always missing enough of the start to make me stop watching in case this ruined it if I ever managed to catch it from the beginning. In other words, word of mouth and online reputation didn't push me into making an effort to watch it. But when it appeared on streaming, I decided to give it a shot.

This is a problematic movie for Arnold, because he is playing against what he is known and liked for. In fact he character goes against his unique selling point, which is his physique. Arnold as an alcoholic just doesn't work. Nor does him being thrown around by overweight grannies.

This is a kind of horror/police procedural crossover in which Arnold plays an alcoholic cop who ends up doing battle with the devil for the soul of a woman. If the devil wins, the world ends.

The problem is this movie is all over the place. The narrative seem to fit with previous devil movies like The Omen or Exorcist, which are more rooted in Catholic lore. I mean what exactly is the deal with the devils flammable urine or his endorsement of heavy metal band merch? Scenes like these take away from the serious tone of the movie, in a bad way.

While not scary, there is some gore and of course satanic references, which are the only things that make this a horror. The other confusing thing is some sections play out like an Arnold action movie, explosions etc. Which again does not fit with the overall tone of the film. And as far as the ending goes, it certainly doesn't fit with his superman image he is known for.

This is why this movie marked the end of Arnold as an action and movie star. He ended up doing roles which didn't suit him and didn't satisfy his fans. This is a Bruce Willis movie all day long. But Arnie? He simply looks too healthy to be a downtrodden alcoholic. End of review.

  • Shifty Without The F

I am making my way through these episodes and so far they are genuinely disappointing, compared to previous works. The far left wing bias of the BBC is here for all to see. If you don't understand that point, maybe look at their recent decisions to produce Hamas propaganda, paid for by the UK taxpayer, or their recent Glastonbury coverage.

The problem with this series is that unless you have the experience to actually know about the stories covered in this series, you are very likely to come away with a very biased view of what happened in the UK.

For instance Curtis alludes to racism with the video of a rasta being pulled over by police looking for drugs. Curtis obviously wants to imply this is a race issue, while ignoring the elephant in the room of cannabis being illegal and guess what rastas are known for? We then cut to the riots which Curtis claims is due to "police harassment and racism", but missing out the fact that PC Blakelock was killed, was because a police raid on the estate lead to the death of an elderly black woman who dropped dead at the stress of being raided by the police. Why on earth would Curtis miss out the most important detail of the riots? This itself could be seen as a form of racism, as without proper context, this suggests these riots happened for a vague reason of disgruntlement and not the direct response to the death of a loved community member.

This is why this series is garbage. These overly positive reviews seem to be based on people thinking they are being granted special knowledge, driven by the inclusion of boring BBC archive footage, but the reality is these are not factual documentaries. But then again the far left were never that keen on the truth, just spinning narratives that made themselves feel better.

This could be the last gasp of Curtis for the BBC, because the BBC seems to be on its way out. No longer trusted or supported by the people of the UK. This series is the echo chamber for the minority who think Glastonbury and Corbyn are where its at. TV for the clueless.

  • An Australian Local Hero

Yet another new arrival to Prime is this forgotten movie about an American who heads to a rural town in order to "make big changes". If that sounds familiar then this is because its pretty much the same story as Local Hero, except we have the Australian outback instead of the Scottish Highlands. Right down to the hostile locals and the mysterious female love interest. However the main divergence from Local Hero is this one is about soft drinks.

The very strange thing about this movie is we have an American, playing an American, but so badly he isn't believable. Its as if this movie was made by an Australian and they were trying to push some extreme stereotype of what an American is down under. Its like a pantomime performance.

The other issue with this movie is that not very much happens. Or when it does it makes little sense. There isn't much to latch onto apart from the female lead because she is pretty.

This is pretty much a non event movie which is supposedly part rom com, despite there being very little rom and the com isn't laugh out loud funny. The other theme being big bad company takes over charming small town business.

Suffice to say the ending is strange as there is little confirmation about the fate of a main character, the same can be said about the relationship between the cartoon American and the female lead.

I've no idea why this is rated at a six, its just fluff.
