A fairly good story hampered by a lack of Budget.
More cash would have gotten this movie a better tech advisor, stunt and or fight coordinator, armorer, military advisor, special effects and another editing pass or three. Did they rent a steady-cam and run out of funds? Various shots look like they did. If not I think it was a poor decision.
I DID like how they played the story out through various flashbacks over drinks. Nice choice there.
The acting by most of the main cast is solid but the secondary cast not so much.
As is it's worth watching once for what could have been a pretty great movie.

although mine didn't like the fact that i thought they were dense enough to enjoy the film.
horrible dialogue. the screenwriter hopefully was specifically told to write for a five to eight year old age group. it's the only excuse i can manufacture. i can't blame this on the actors as they can only work with what they're given but i wonder how they could miss the fact that they were soon to be speaking truly abysmal lines.
seemed to be a fair bit of filler as well. i lost track of the number of scenes of characters riding horses across the plain while "stirring" music played. at least there was no dialog. the only redeeming value were the special effects but still only fair. nothing spectacular.
i haven't read the book but now i will just to get the smell of dragon poo out of my nostrils.
it's a great idea gone HORRIBLY wrong and i don't recommend wasting your time or money.

I have worked in bars/rest-u-rants for the last 15 or so years of my life. Everything from 2 stars to biker bars and this shows more things that Actually! happen than anything i've ever read (you know the book)or seen before.Everything in the movie i have personally either experienced or participated in or turned my back and let happen or worse.
I just hope they make another from a cooks point of view. It will probably get an X rating. If this movie makes you uneasy i suggest you become a regular somewhere or never eat out again.
