I came to watch this movie without much expectation and did not know anything about the hype that has been surrounding it. I sat down and ate my popcorn. Then the film started. I watch and watch and watch without noticing that 2 hours has passed and I woke up and now see world and a whole different angle.
This is a story of our lives. We may notice or not, but millions of children were left out there without enough food, shelter, clothes let alone education. Watching this movie and saw how 10 brave rainbow warriors (title of the film) went through harsh life with tears and joy but without remorse, it really moved me how we always look above us with envy but not noticing (or worse, ignore) all the blessing that many other people may not have.
two thumbs up for Andrea Hirata for sharing his life and be motivator for us to understand life better and thankful for the bless God gives us. And a standing applause for Riri Reza and the team for adopting the movie from a different angle. Thank you for showing and moving me to understand and act how a live should be.
I have watched this movie and I will not hesitate to watch it the second time and enjoy how Ikal, Lintang, Mahar and friends share their happiness despite the cruelty of world.

As an indonesian people I like this film very much. I think this film is one the best film from indonesia for year 2006.
Its a dark comedy that tell a story about polygamy in Indonesia. divided in three parts, each story connected in a coincidence way. Each part also display polygamy in Indonesia in different perspectives as well.
I think this film will have deeper meaning if one understands the background story and tradition in indonesia. Such as why a smart woman *she is a doctor* still accepted her husband to marry another woman. This condition would be understandable if you understand the religion of that woman, and so on.
Overall as an indonesian people I would like to rate this film as 8/10 for such a interesting storyline. But I imagine it would be 7/10 for common viewer .

I pray if only there are more people like Paul Rusesabagina, who stand up and act rather than just sit and talk.
I pray if only there are more people with even just an iota of his kindness,
I pray that there are more people like him
I pray that I can be more like him
what a better world our world would be...

I don't recommend you to see this movie, I require you to see it! and not because it is good (fyi: it is sensational!!) but because the message that Terry George want to tell us
apart from people's comment on how good or bad this movie is, let us not focus on it. I believe this movie's essence is far more important than just to be commented. Terry George has picked up a very important topic where essence of humanity seems to have deteriorated.
I believe you have read all previous comments, and grab the basic idea about the story. All I want to say is I remember one quote,
"an extraordinary person is an ordinary person who does extraordinary things"
P.S: I say, shame on us if we need to tell Terry to put more gore in his film. Is our soul already that dull, that we have to ask Terry to put more gore in his movie? do we not think that cruelty in this movie is already insane, that we have to ask more gore?
