  • Unusual documentary style

I appreciate the effort put into this documentary. I learned a lot about Welles which I had not known. Actually, I wasn't aware that he made or performed in so many films. I believe only a select few are shown on TV these days. I certainly will be on the look-out for more of his films as mentioned in this documentary. Contemporary youth seem to prefer everything In color and flashy so they show no interest in old films especially if they are in black and white. Having said that, I did not give a high rating because I found the director spoke more or less in a monotonous voice most of the time. Of course, he has an Irish accent, but that in itself is not an issue.

  • What genre is it supposed to be, really?

I felt deceived. I watched seven episodes thinking I was watching a drama/thriller, then episode eight comes out as science fiction. What a waste of my time!! I liked everything about the serie until then. I suppose there were enough clues presented: WW I and decades long murders. It seemed there was a puzzle and a real challenge ahead. I eagerly awaited the conclusion. The acting was superb and the characters were well defined. I especially liked Jamie Bell in his role. Elizabeth Moss is always good, but I feel she had a bit of Handmaiden in her acting. At least she is always passionate. I propose that IMdb mark this serie as science fiction and nothing else.

Although I do prefer the original version, i did enjoy this one. Perhaps we should refrain from comparisons and try to find its own qualities.
