And unfortunately it's mainly misses.
The 1st, 2nd and 4th episode all had very poor writing, irritatingly clichéd characters, and a completely un-adventure-time-like feel.
What makes it even more frustrating is that al 3 episodes could have worked really well if the writing was more adequate, as focusing on 1-2 main characters an episode was a realy good choice.
Those characters, though, were dumbed down to the point that it feels like character development from the entire show was deleted into an uninspired mush so it could have a forced happy ending.
After just finishing the main show, it almost felt insulting to what the show has accomplished.
These might actually be my top 3 worst episodes of the ENTIRE series!
Ep1: 5/10, ep2: 4/10, ep4: 5/10
Then there's episode 3... which is one of the best in the entire series!
The difference in everything from writing to worldbuilding, to tying up loose ends from the show is incredible!
As it focuses on Finn and Jake, it's also the only episode that's more close the the main series, so I'm very thankful they at least nailed this most important episode in a near-perfect manner.
9,6/10 is what I would give it as well.
All in all it's mostly an uninspired mess, and I'd recommend to only watch the 3rd episode (but if you're as invested into the Adventure Time world as you should, I bet you'll watch them anyway) Just be prepared for mediocrity.

The final second of this episode blew me away and gave me goosebumps like few things can.
But wait, this is a low-tier filler episode, literally the (shared) 5th worst rated out of all 283 episodes! It's so incredibly filler, it's about random head-worms that can only say "chips" and "ice cream"! This is as filler as filler can possibly get!
Yes.
And I understand why it's rated this low, but only Adventure Time can make something that is this stupidly random have true heart and complete, wholesome purpose!
Pendleton and the other writers have a special childlike imagination, that no other show examplifies nearly as well as this one!
The fact that they can turn something as completely random and even irritating as Chips and Ice Cream into a complete story arc that inspires to look out for each other and see the world from others perspective is downright incredible! And that in 11 minutes!
And that change in perspective is perfectly showcased in the foreshadowing of the end scene.
The end of the play feels like a lack of sincerity of capitalist adults profiting off of children while spewing out nonsense. (which ironically is how filler episodes like these will be seen) When it returns in the end of the episode, you feel the fulfilled purpose in unexpectedly complex creatures, that get to live their life in a way they could only have dreamed of during captivity.
This is why Adventure Time is DIFFERENT!
Very close to a 10 for me and deserving of SO much more than the rating implies!

Aunty Donna's Big Ol' House Of Fun is basically a show consisting of episodes, consisting of sketches that never exceed 5 minutes in length and have as little as possible in common, except for "the word of the day". This is a premise that doesn't sound like it would be a success if it wasn't executed this brilliantly!
I did not know Aunty Donna from youtube previous to seein this, but I have gone back and revisited some of their online sketches. While often funny, they did not have the astonishing consistency that this series gives us. Every single sketch of every single episode is original, surprising, thought-provoking, and most importantly: really funny! And all of the different styles, themes and overall vibes of the sketches keep everything fresh and interesting, while still allowing some plotline to thread through.
This truly is the best concievable way to serialise youtube-sketch-comedy, and these guys really pulled it off!

This Magnificent Cake combines 5 short stories set in ancient colonial DRC. Congo, and accomplishes to paint a bizarre, yet emotionally investing picture of those horrific times from several perspectives.
It's length of a mere 44 minutes, the plethora of barely connected stories, the animation style and the absence of much dialogue legitimately makes this film a world wonder in my books, in how it's able to flesh out the characters so humanly, and most of all, is able to make so much happen! There is death, discrimination, loss, grief, and so much more happening to so many characters in such a short amount of time! In a way it reminds me of how Quentin Tarantino fleshes out his characters through dialogue, until suddenly something horrific happens. In this movie, however, that dialogue is just filled with observing, thoughtful stares and real human emotion that I've never before experienced in animation!
The animation is impeccable and stunningly detailed. The score is chillingly beautiful and uses it's silence just as impactfully as the dialogue does. The sound design is truly captivating, as it mixes the woolen set-design with sharp and solid ambiance of caves and buildings. The voice-acting is on point, and the different languages add to the isolation of the characters.
A problem some people have with the movie is that the stories either don't go enough in-depth, or that they don't combine together into a coherent plot, but if fully disagree. Sure, it's minimalist in that perspective, but that's exactly it's beauty. It serves you beautifully threaded strings of story and character that you can knot into a spiderweb in your own mind, and then view the terrifying, gut-punching and spine-chilling overarching colonial spider that devours it's enslaved pray. But as horrendous and inexcusable the actions of the Belgian colonialists were back then, the movie also adds backstory to their hardships, loneliness, misfortunes and ignorance in an unbiased way.
This is easily in my top 3 favorite movies of all time, and each time i thing back to it i get goosebumps. I truly hope this masterpiece of an undiscovered gem gets the recognition it deserves. I could literally not recommend it more!

Rick and morty has always been full of nods to other shows or movies, but this episode went way beyond all the others. It felt like the best parts of "Up", "Alive", "Groundhog Day" and "The Prestige", while having amazing character development, an amazing message, no message at all and the most toxic 'told ya' imagineable, ALL AT THE SAME TIME!
I saw the rating and had eard about an iterview with his dying mom, so I was expecting te feels, but I did not expect this to be so gutpunchingly emotional.
Starting lighthearted, with imaculate, obviously unwritten banter between mother and son, transforming more real and touching every minute. With the most intergalactically beautiful visuals, that pull back on some of the crazy action in order to really pack the emotional punch, this episode is a perfect ode to the most important woman in Clancy's, or rather Duncans life. Perfect. 10/10.

This movie is just a lot of fun
It literally starts off with a talking joint giving you the instructions of how to watch the movie. It makes the comparison of watching this movie sober to watching a 3D movie without the glasses; you need to be high. And in a way it does make sense that reviewing this movie after a sober watch wouldn't be doing it justice, since that wasn't what it's intended for either.
So right off the bat you know the movie isn't taking itself too seriously, and so shouldn't you. The mere concept of two of the world's most (in)famous stoners as protagonists in a high school-movie is already entertaining, and on top of that the performances weren't too bad either! In a fun way you can see the difference between your average actor, whose acting-classes for "realistic acting" can almost be seen leaking out of their nose, to the point that it's not realistic anymore, with Wiz and Snoop, who are so much the polar opposite to that mentality, thus making them more realistic as characters. I'm making it sound worse than it is actually, as this difference is one of the movies' charms aswell, painting Mac and Devin as the good guys they intend to be.
On top of that, this movie is quite hilarious in its meta humour, of the joint coming in once in a while (and actually even giving useful information). It's got the right amount of laughs, right amount of music (kind of making it feel like a parody of both high-school movies and musicals), and it's self-aware enough to not feel awkward, but also not too self-aware, to the point that it'd become irritating.
All in all this movie is a great time, made by people who know really well what they wanted to make and definitely succeeded. Just don't watch it sober ;)

I remember seeing this film about 9 years ago when I was 11, at a sleepover party of a friend where we watched 3 Jackie Chan movies in a row. This was the last one, I was the only one still awake and I just vaguely remember Jackie Chan flying with some imaginary people in a cave behind a waterfall. It might have been my half-sleep talking but this was one of the weirdest movies I'd seen. Not sure if I wanna relive it though, as I don't want to reveal the mysteries I have of it in my memories...
Worth a watch at least on an 11-year-old-sleepover-Jackie-Chan-trilogy-night I guess...

This episode absolutely blew me away! On top of being as good of a season-ender as you could hope for, it swerved into a totally new and unexpected direction, with which it out-black-mirrored some very relevant social issues in a way that felt more realistic, probable and touching than I've ever seen done before.
This is a prime example of what just one person can achieve given the right tools, funding, time and obviously a ton of talent and creativity. Analyzing just a part of this short will make you realize how painstakingly tedious it must have been to animate, which makes the flawless execution all the more gratifying. The amount of emotion and story Alan is able to convey in his faceless stick figures is also astounding.
I'd say this is as close to perfection as stick figure animation can get, as I can't point out anything to improve. 10/10

For any other show this kind of episode would have been my favorite by a long shot... and even by Rick and Morty standards this is solid top 3! I was beyond thrilled the entire time with my eyes glued to the screen. And even knowing the show, and its plot-twisty nature, this episode caught me wonderfully off guard!
Without spoiling anything, I can say that the "transformation" our main characters go through this episode, reveals entirely new, fresh and different standpoints from them. Also Rick's caring character trait towards Morty gets an unexpected perspective.
This is my new favorite episode of the season, and it eliminates any shiver of doubt I could have had about this season not being at least as good as the previous ones. Perfect 10/10!

Suits is just such a clever show, and this episode once again proved that to me. Every line of dialogue is scripted so well and the clashes between intelligent minds torn between justice, money, pride and truthfulness are epic and just as I'd expect them to be in real life.
The relationships are surprisingly interesting as well. This episode I realized how in the conversations between Harvey and Paula, they also talk in the style of their profession sometimes. You can hear Paula giving philosophical-ish quotes like "you knew it yourself, but wanted to hear it from someone else", while Harvey might respond unnecessarily harshly at times, as if he's defending someone in court. This adds to the cleverness and realism of the show that I've grown to love.
And this all comes from someone who didn't think he would like a show about lawyers. Boy was I wrong and boy, am I glad I gave this show a try.

After seeing the 2014 movie Frank by Lenny Abrahamson, I found this movie by scrolling down the IMDb list. It seemed interesting, and I was into another weird film, and in that aspect this movie did definitely not disappoint.
I don't want to spoil the way Frank makes new friends, but you have to be prepared for some disturbing and gross imagery. However, it brings an interesting view into Frank's insanity. As damaged as our protagonist is, you will start rooting for him, as he is quite likable and kind.
The cinematography managed to take me by surprise every once in a while with its creative camera angles and close-ups. Also the end of the movie connects many of the seemingly random events, and shows how they were a part of Frank's character development. This makes for a satisfying watching experience, as Frank's emotions are reflected upon the viewer.
All in all, I recommend you to see this movie. It deserves a lot more recognition than it currently has, at a couple dozen ratings. You can easily find the whole movie underneath a critic review, linked on this site.

I don't know why, but for some reason the episode "Waiting" aired abnormally often in the Netherlands. At least back in the day when the little kid version of me didn't do anything else but watch cartoons all day. This caused me to memorize the entire (sub)episode from top to bottom. Luckily, I quite liked the episode, unlike my reviewer buddy on this page.
Surprisingly, I actually had use of this brain storage being wasted to a random episode. One summer day in a church in Sipoo (Finland), I was dragged along to listen to a concert with music from Bach. I got bored out of my mind and started reliving this episode in my head frame by frame. The part where Dutch Spongebob screamed: "Jij hebt mijn prijs naar de filistijnen geholpen!" almost cracked me up, but I was just able not to burst out laughing. Good ol' times, good ol' episode.

"Jeuk" is a Dutch TV-show that I find myself getting drawn back to quite often. The acting is good and the situations are lifelike and believable.
The protagonist seems to always find himself in the most uncomfortable or awkward position possible. This is often partly due to the selfish way he treats others, but still his actions are really understandable and you could see yourself doing the same thing. Also his friends seem to often manipulate him or catch him at just the wrong time in the wrong place, which still makes you feel sorry for the character.
All in all this is a very amusing show, with every episode usually cracking me up at some point or another. The perfect solution if you feel like cringing over actually good content.

Wie is de Mol is one of my favorite TV-shows of all time. I get that that is hard to believe to an outsider, regarding all the amazing series that could never be bested by a mere "game-show".
But Wie is de Mol is no ordinary game-show. It's an experience! When all of the Netherlands is tuning in and trying to solve the mystery of the mole, you can not help but get pumped! The show is made so cleverly, with small clues hidden in every episode, which make you sit on the edge of your seat during every scene! The views are spectacular, the cinematography is outstanding, and every game adds a new layer of cleverness and excitement.
The most interesting thing, in my opinion, is the way the hunt is put together. While the mole has to deliberately sabotage the assignments, he has to also stay undercover to seem a normal player. But next to that, it's favorable for the others to send each other into the wrong direction (in their search for the mole), which they achieve by making themselves look suspicious. This way the viewer will never know if a suspicious play was an act of sabotage by the mole, making yourself look suspicious by someone else, or if it was just a stupid mistake.
All in all, this show is so much more than it seems from the start. It is a game-show. But it is also an adventure full of mind games. It's a detective plot in which you yourself are the detective. It's clever, it's thought-provoking, it's funny, it's beautiful and it's an experience, not just worth a watch, but worth 100% of your attention.
10/10 for sure!

I sat in astonishment for the first 15 minutes, barely believing I was watching the right show, as many viewers probably did. This bold move to change the whole genre of a TV series for this first third of the episode is one of the most unexpected moments i have ever seen on TV! This perfect depiction of a 90's sitcom is gets a really creepy feel when the laugh-track (that only Elliot seems to be able to hear) laughs sadistically at the beatings, and even murders happening on screen.
Afterwards we find out that this was a really clever way to look inside the unconscious mind of the beat-up Elliot, living back some exaggerated memories from his childhood. An old sitcom is airing on screen next to his hospital bed, which explains the Full-House-esque style. The line "Keep your eyes on the road in front of you" that Mr Robot says to Elliot in the beginning part, is repeated in a memory that Elliot has about the Mr. Robot shop his father owned.
All in all, the first 15 minutes make this the best episode of the second season so far in my opinion, and at this point I have no idea any more what to expect from the next episodes.

The Dudesons is a very violent real-life TV show. Four Finnish friends live together doing the stupidest things that you would either not dare to do or you wouldn't want to risk breaking your bones for. But that is what makes it stand out and the positive vibe our Finnish Jackasses have, makes this mindless show well worth a watch. Some moments are quite stomach-turning; for example when dislocated limbs or broken bones are shown, but that is a part of the stunt and provides a raw side that isn't usually shown in a TV-show. Each episode is equally ridiculous and funny. Even in great pain, the guys accomplish to make hilarious conversations. I understand that this show is definitely not for everyone, but i love it, especially being half Finnish myself.
Every episode is also available on YouTube btw.

So after finishing and loving the first 2 seasons of Rick & Morty, I decided to look for some older creations of Justin Roiland, and for a low production budget and such a short length House of Cosbys has, I was not disappointed! Consisting of mere 5 minute episodes, the whole miniseries is watchable within 30 minutes; pretty much the standard length of one comedy episode! The idea of the show is just simply funny, original and definitely memorable. It's a shame the show had to be cancelled because of problems with Bill Cosby's lawyers, but that doesn't make these first 4 official episodes any less enjoyable.
Definitely worth your spare 20-25 minutes, definitely if you like Roilands other work.
