  • Best educated farce around!

I can't believe my eyes reading about this movie, it's widest release was 14 theaters, it made just over 100, 000$ when it cost 11, 000, 000$ to make. These numbers just go to prove exactly what this movie is saying. This movie does not just solely make fun of Americans it makes fun of both countries almost equally. Yet I have not met a Canadian who has not found this movie extremely hilarious, you got to learn to laugh at yourselves!

The story is that the American president (Alda) has shut down a bunch of weapon facilities leaving many jobless. This has a very bad affect in the presidents ratings, he figures out the only way to get re-elected is to start a cold war with any one. Of course the Hosers are picked and propaganda is started to make Americans think Canada is the biggest threat around. The plan is full proof until an American extremest named Boomer(Candy) invades Canada hell bend on showing Canada whose boss and screws up everything.

It shows how easily the government can make you believe whatever they want, kind of like "Wag the Dog". It intelligently makes fun of Americans and Canadians, like how a cop (Aykroyd) fines boomer for writing on a van in English but not in french, which is disrespectfully to Quebec and fines him 100 Canadian dollar, or 10 American dollars. Or how a riot erupts after Boomer says Canadian beer sucks. To understand this movie you have to know both countries and understand these stereotypes and just take it as a joke, it's a comedy calm down people!

Go rent this movie if you are able to laugh at yourselves because it is a great film. And is defiantly the best Micheal Moore movie ever made, go see it, it's a great memorial movie for John Candy fans.

  • It's Time To Make A Stand

This is the absolute "GOD" of anarchy movies. This movie is intelligent, sleek, new and creative and totally violent, it can appeal to everyone (unless your in love with Hitler or even the government now). It takes place in the mid to late 00's, the only notification on time is a paper that is written awhile ago when the government started taking over which is dated at 2015 (although the original comic took place during 1997-98). This new version of the Nazi's even have there own symbol but unlike the swastika this new symbol isn't a Hindu good luck charm it's more of a cross with an extra horizontal line. V for Vendetta is based on a graphic novel by Alan Moore and David Lloyd with the same name. The story revolves over the next rain of a fascist government, though Jews are never mentioned, they pick on Muslims and homosexuals mostly. The government is in complete control and makes sure the people keep thinking that they need them.

Code name "V" is the main character and as you may have guessed he has set out a Vendetta on the people that have ruined his life and the government who is ruining other people's life's. He's a sword wielding terrorist (a terrorist that you root for!) who dresses like Guy Fawks and quotes Shakespeare. He longs for things the government has kept from the public such as art, freedoms, music and literature. He follows Guy Fawks's plan and does all of his destruction on November the fifth. Hugho Weaving plays "V" and should win a golden glob or an Oscar, his performance should not be missed. Then there's Evey, played by Natalie "Mrs.Skywalker" Portman who's had a life full of tragedies but still follows the powers blindly. Until "V" influences her to rise against the oppression. Mr.Finch, played by Stephen Rea, is the police officer who tries to catch "V" but while trying to find him discovers some tight lidded secrets. And of course there's the leader, Adam Sutler, played by, John Hurt, and has a hair cut just like, Hitler.

A completely astonishing movie which teaches us about the power of one and what we can accomplish. It also teaches us to question our leaders and not to believe the media, because they are all owned by people with ties to the government and only give their point of view. Best movie I think I've ever seen, complete thumbs up, this movie covers every emotion and does it well. This is how a movie should be made and will become a classic that in 30 years people will still remember remember the fifth of November.... and this movie. (too bad they didn't release this movie on the 5th of November but maybe it will come out on video on the fifth)

  • If there's nothing good on TV watch...

It's not a horrible movie, it's got a truly basic, I know what's going to happen every scene kinda feel, kinda movie. With parents who've divorced and their son not dealing with it well, he ends up lying and sorta breaking the law...... the stories like the boy who cried wolf. Anyway they get into some trouble there's some lame confrontation scenes (between Travolta/Vaughn or Vaughn/O'leary) and stupid lazy cops parts. This movie is basically the opposite of CSI (the show) for cops, where CSI believes the right person and tries their hardest to solve a crime no matter what. While these cops say hey there's better things to investigate in a small town than a silly murder, like who took my doughnut.

But it's got John Travolta, who I don't think deserved the Razzi nomination for this movie....'snicker' two Razzi nominations in one year 'snicker'.... and the great, but drug addict looking Steve Buscemi. The kid (Matt O'Leary) plays his part well enough to be believable, my favorite character was probably Teri Polo, she has the only good acting skills in this movie. (and it's got Vince Vaughn, still in his I can be in serious movies faze (It's so great he went to comedies!)).

Anyway the stories the same old song and dance as other lame thrillers, but it's something to watch when bored. I don't recommend buying it or renting it, just watch it on TV if your bored at night, and then it's your choice.
