Nicholson is brilliant as Warren Schmidt, a recently retired insurance assessor, realises that his life has had no meaning or real happiness. He is easily replaced in his work role of many years, he has a strained relationship with his daughter and her fiance.
After 42 years of marriage he is also questioning whether she was the right match for him but when she suddenly dies he is left with no purpose and struggling what legacy he is going to leave behind.
This movie certainly gets you thinking as a lot about the situations that are presented resonated with me - "have I been a good person, what did I achieve, am I happy with my life?"
All the acting is solid, a good cameo from Bateman and as mentioned Nicholson is brilliant as usual.
This was presented as dark humour but that is minimal throughout, it is mostly a drama and a good one at that!

Not sure what the money was spent on if the budget was actually $12 million. I suspect that this reported budget is actually just stated as such as a play on the reported finance needed in the film for the protagonist's project?
Whilst the story line that an event could have a further impact on your life is interesting unfortunately the film does not really explore this in any meaningful manner with the characters involved, which is a pity as the character development was good, albeit a bit slow. As a result it become a very underwhelming tale.
I have given 4 stars as the music score was good, the acting was reasonable and assuming the budget was lower than reported on IMDb, it is not badly made, just the story line lets it down.

This low budget sci-fi post apocalyptic flick is definitely in 2 parts, I think because the three actors in the first act are the best we see here, but it is also the best part if the plot too.
The astronauts are stuck on a nuclear armed satellite when ww3 breaks out. They then crash land in what is left of the world which is run by gangs of thugs and warlords. The acting here degenerates as does the story line, but still, if you like post apocalyptic movies you might enjoy this part but it has nothing new to add to the genre and the best part of the plot was seen in the first 20 minutes.
It's not so bad as some of the reviews and given it is now 40 years old it's doing ok for a low budget film.
