I can't say enough about this wonderful, heartwarming movie. Harry Connick Jr. Is simply amazing as a washed-up, sad rock star trying to forget everything. His acting, singing, and portrayal makes this very likable character just come to life, the scenery in Cypress is breathtaking, and the original music is sure to be played again and again. I'm not sure why we haven't seen more of Harry Connick, Jr. In films, because he's a great actor. I hope he continues to make these types of uplifting, meaningful movies that people love. To watch an enjoyable film that hits all the bases like this one does is a real pleasure.
Every person - especially every practicing Catholic - needs to see this moving and emotional film. Beautiful in its depth, it shows the heartbreaking, painful journey of men abused as boys by predatory priests, and the uphill battle for justice. The scope of the trauma is vast, and it may shock you to see the continuing whitewash given it by the Vatican. Are those who still dutifully attend Mass and continue to put money into the coffers of the Catholic Church complicit in the ongoing coverup? That is a moral and ethical question each of us must ask ourselves.
