This is hands down, the best pirate drama I have ever seen, movie or television. Some might say, thats not saying much because there isn't all that much competition, but seriously the storyline alone is sufficient to keep you entertained.

On top of that, this show plays like a high budget blockbuster movie, their open ocean shots are beautifully epic. The acting is amazing. The costumes, the makeup, the close ups, all make it feel so real. There is also plenty of drama and plenty of fight scenes. The fights are epic, the smoke, the noise, the blood. This show makes me want to be a pirate, thats how good it is and thats how real it feels. One entire aspect of pirating that was completely lost on me prior to seeing this was the politics behind it. There is constant drama with respect to both captains and the entities they unload their cargo to. Incredible, incredible show, must watch.

I understand that Americans love "real" drama. This definitely has "drama". My issue is that the majority of what happens feels engineered and manipulative. I understand most of what is shown on television is scripted. But blatantly passing off something that is like this as a "real" show where "true love" is "found" seems a bit disingenuous. It seems like the producers must be specifically casting some individuals to cause drama and others for the sole purpose of being emotionally traumatized by their experience. Some people may say, who cares, who is this show hurting. But this type of television is a perfect example of what is degrading this countries moral standards. Terrible, terrible, terrible show.

Honestly this is one of the most irritating television shows I have ever seen. It is obviously written to a particular target audience that has zero understanding of the majority of the satirical content. The laugh track is unbearable. The acting is absolutely terrible. The content is focused on making jokes about things which most of the target audience has little to no understanding of. This show makes me feel like network television is not something I am ever interested in watching, which is sad because there are a number of well written network programs that are being overwhelmed in the ratings by this absolutely horrific piece of garbage.
