For a movie based on a true story of a famous crime, they did not do the film justice. I know the real story is quite simple and no one really knows what happened. So there is a lot of speculation as to how it all went down. This movie most likely follows close to the true story of what happened. But the presentation of the film was very basic.
Great acting. And yet the movie becomes boring quite quickly. It's slow. Very slow. And there isn't a lot said in the movie. When they do talk, they use an older poetic english that's hard to relate to since people no longer speak this way. The love story felt too sudden and drastic. There was no chemistry between the two leads. And they really didn't give Kristen Stewart much of a part. We didn't get to explore her character much and she barely had any lines. On top of it there is very little music in the entire film, giving an uncomfortable silence as all noises such as creaks and squeaks of every little movement can be heard.
I like that its based on a true story, but I wish they would have given more to the characters to create a more complete story. And deeper understanding of each person. With a better love story. Instead the movie is filled with lots of awkward silence and unnecessary scenes to "fill" the movie until it can finally reach the big finish.

Another film for the John Wick Franchise. The main thing this movie had going for itself is the action. It's non-stop and really good. But, being a different character in the John Wick world. I was hoping for a little more then just action. The movie has no depth. It barely develops a story, other then revenge. It lacks in diving into the character. Not allowing the viewer to relate to Eve or even getting to know her. The lines in some places are cringe. And Eve had a little too much bang for her buck from the start of the movie. She is new and young. Fresh out of training school and yet she is more powerful then most people who have been agents all their lives. She seems to be an extreme natural with no flaws. A Mary Sue character.
Great action. Good acting. I just wish the movie would have had a little more to its story and character depth. They could have easily made this into two parts, to slow down and build up Eve. To let the viewer really see the challenges of a new recruit and who this new character is. And above all, more of the John Wick universe.

I loved the fact that this movie is based on a true story. That single fact made the film worth watching for me. But I honestly struggled to sit through the entire thing.
We watch two famous writers have a relationship and friendship with each other while being married to other people and move forward in their careers. The movie was very restrained. The dialogue was almost hard to follow. You would think these writers were hardcore science manual writers with the very cold and overly spoken dialogue in the movie that seemed to go far over my head.
The film showed Vita acting like a man who wanted to only have sex. And Virginia who seemed to have mental issues. The heart was missing in the movie it was hard to feel the love between the two actors. And the film almost gave me whiplash with all the friends, and husbands. And trying to remember who was who and what was going on. The costumes and sets were beautiful and amazing. Unfortunately the movie dragged on for nearly two hours. There wasn't enough interesting story to go on for that long.
I love lesbian films. And I love that this is history. But I would never watch this movie again.
