This movie may not be for everyone. It isn't fast past and there are a lot of long shots and sequences. The acting it about what I would expect from an Independent film. I thought the story was good and interesting as I know a couple of people who went to Seminary School (I guess that's how you say that). I really enjoyed Mark Cirillo in this (he is adorable I don't care what anyone says) and I thought he did a good job and was a very likable character. I liked the idea of following one person on their personal journey that's what made it relatable and enjoyable to me. It's a shame that it is so poorly rated because they really did do a good job.
This movie by no means will win an Oscar, however, it is a sweet story that I found very refreshing. They don't rely on sex or your typical "hot guys" and nudity, as most gay movies do. There are some continuity errors (they are forgivable) and some of the dialog may be a little forced. The story however is the saving grace. I like the message it has and I like that they didn't make any of the characters victims or whinny. You know going in how this movie will end and it doesn't disappoint. I thought the main cast did a very good job Wendie Malick was great to watch and you could see she was having fun with the role. Jon Lindstrom played the part very uptight as it should be. The Character is in his 50s and was a CEO if you expect him to be anything but conservative and uptight then you haven't worked with many CEOs (Tech Company CEO's don't count). Chris Murrah was very good and again it was nice to see a younger gay character that I would consider a more normal slightly above average in looks person. He was something that I think everyone could relate too. If you want to watch a good movie with a nice story and characters that you can relate to then definitely watch this.
I haven't felt this compelled to write a movie review in quiet some time, but for this movie I can't hold back. This has got to be one of the best acted but worst movies I've seen in a long time. I enjoyed the acting and the sets and scenery were truly amazing; least of all the cars (this is a great period piece). Everything about this movie screamed incredible until you start watching it and get involved in the story. I know what they were trying to do and I appreciate it, but it was poorly executed. I watched the special features and listened to the commentary and I get it, but it doesn't mean I like it. I thought the story had a lot of potential but it all fell so short and left me very disappointed.
I have to tell you, I wanted to like this movie but by the end of the film I just wanted it to be over so I could move on and forget it.
