  • Definitely not a masterpiece but quite ok

Too long. But beautiful to look at so that made up for some of it.

Well acted. Great concept. A bit of fun and bit of seriousness.

    But definitely not a masterpiece.

For that movie to have been one it would have needed to rock the highs and milk your heart with the lows. It did neither. It remained in a nice, slow, very slow, type of rythm that neither bent nor blasted.

The serenity of countryside, the beautiful cooking of mother, the gentle life, that brought back some memories of places in childhood which, like the theme here, will soon be taken forever by 'progress'.

I feel that the concept of loving the light was somehow thoroughly lost by the concept of wanting to steal it to make films.

Not a great film but a nice enough one. It looked beautiful.

  • Watch her on youtube first and you'll know why the one star

Firstly, in every video of the real Fanny Craddock, the makeup is nowhere near as absurd as this parody of a movie makes it to be.

In real life she looked normal, in this film she looks like a blow up rubber doll with added makeup. Seriously, if you want to actually watch this woman cook and to see what she actually DID look like, watch one of the many youtube clips. Nothing like this absurd mess.

Next, I have no idea what Fanny was like in real life, but if the excruciatingly over the top make up here is anything to go by, I'd say there were even more ridiculous liberties taken and that her personality was depicted poorly here or taken to levels meant to be entertaining, but were not.

This film is neither entertaining, good, particularly interesting or meaningful.

I learned nothing of the real person. I can take from this that she was demanding, perfectionist, self absorbed and possibly quite brilliant, but I don't know, as this debacle just tells us she's a total looney.

I'm sure she brought something to the seriously terrible food in Britain at the time, as many have stated in documentaries, so kudo for that.

Boring, horribly over acted by Julia Davis, just horribly.

  • 7.4 IMDB ... really?

So for all the people who think misery, destruction, poverty, garbage and couch surfing is the true road to brilliance, it might be, but not this pure dreck filled misery fest that either requires a valium or actually is valium.

Boring to the point of death knells, no this is not anything like the newest Dylan movie, rather, it's kind of like enough to make you burn your guitar, move to a new city, get a real job and stop pretending you have the kind of talent that will make you a solo hit.

This is a film of the type of singer who is great in your downtown pub, has no charisma, sings other people's stuff and makes you want to kill yourself before the first five minutes is up.

If you like that, knock yourself out!

Not one single human being held any interest, appeal, fascination or any other reason to watch this hanging festival.

But wait, one of the cats, ONE, was very nice. Thank you for the cat.

The other loser didn't even know to hang in for royalties. Loser's Anonymous would have been the correct title.
