  • If you know what you're getting into, you get lots.

Skillhouse fits the bill for an all around decent and entertaining watch - imagine influencers trapped within a mansion in LA Saw style with 50 Cent as the Jigsaw figure, it's as awesome and hilarious as it sounds.

Dialog and acting aside some nitpicking scenes of underwhelming responses is nothing to complain about. Kills, gore and progression isn't terrible nor a complaint either. The pacing is akin again, to saw, characters getting picked off, some suspense on who's next and thensome with some pretty successful comedy thrown in. Overall nothing entirely unique or groundbreaking, but works heavily with the content it aims to tackle - that being a dark, comedic whodunit with Saw tropes sprinkled about. Watch this film if you want something to laugh at, something to enjoy with some friends or something to bluntly enjoy; 50 Cent as a Jigsaw, despite his recent attempts to sue is worth watching. Post credit sequence and all.

  • Something to check out if you want a laugh.

This film really drags man. That's about the summary of this entire feature, it's a film tackling a very tired and cliche realm of horror, whilst also a film that's throwing some cultural patronage - which it doesn't fail at, however when it comes to most horror aspects, it falls flat. This film offers some little eye openers here and there, nothing spectacular, moreorless predictable circumstances you'll see from miles away. Some poorly timed jumpscares, bad audio and extremely predictable scenarios sprinkled among a plot that drags, this wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, but if you're gonna take time to see it in theaters like I did, congratulations. You've got great patience. Some people will appreciate this film, but at the very least, it tried - it's extremely basic in every regard all in all.

  • You're getting exactly what you'd expect!

This film is passable, if you've seen the trailer or know what this is even about, you'll be getting exactly what you were probably expecting - a bunch of purposely expressive characters you'd wanna see killed in true slasher fashion. This is a goofy, extremely self aware film that delivers on just that - if you're expecting anything serious or anything on the aspect of plot that isn't purposely cliche, then you're not watching the right film. Some complaints lie with the pacing, as well as how rushed the end began feeling and looking. Some kills could have gone farther with the hype of people being behind Terrifier, but worry not, this film delivers in its own special take on that; filming in some spots feels jarring and even blurry, some cheap spots. Some genuinely good moments of laughs and self aware dark humor, along with some really fleshed out and decent scenes. This is much better than some other films in this joke wave, however it's far from anything spectacular or good. Memorable? A good film to watch with friends and even catch in theaters for an experience? Yes. This film is serviceable at the very least, I'd recommend if you know exactly what you're walking into - which you should.

  • Unredeeming experience.

Right off the bat, I cannot recommend this film for any reason whatsoever; This was an absolute dretch to get through. Nonexistant plot with scenes smacked together, very poor acting accompanied by laughable "chemistry", "dialog" and "story" - there's none of it here. There's plenty of times you could laugh during this film, but it's for all the reasons you wouldn't want to be laughed at - film editing is abysmal alongside the very loud and mishmashed audio, continually displaying some really bad CGI garbage that's supposed to draw us in with mystery, it doesn't. Call me a full blown hater for this film, but I can genuinely tell anyone reading this - you will thank me for telling you this film just isn't it. Absolutely nothing was redeeming about it, it's not interesting, scary, enthralling - it's scenes to bloat runtime.

  • Genuinely entertaining - Black phone with Peter.

Seeing this film on a whim, probably like many others - entertained by ITN once again with the makers of blood and honey ( which I've avoided ) I found myself seeing this film with the ambition it wasn't going to be the best, however I was pleasantly surprised. With a typical but serviceable plot, the movie captivates you enough to draw you in and keep you on the line until the end. Some successfully skin crawling scenes alongside some effective kills and gore, it succeeds what it sets out to be! It even surprised me with some entertaining fight scenes and character combat. All in all, this film kinda felt like Black Phone meets a Terrifier 2 final girl showdown, it was serviceable and even got some laughs from me over it's execution. This film caught me off guard and I feel will capture audiences off guard too, as there really is some decent execution all around in this film - with expected, somewhat nitpick flaws to encounter. If you want a romp, to a T, this isn't a bad choice.

  • Genuinely facinating story that falls apart in final acts.

This is genuinely a film I can recommend to any die hard horror fans, or anyone interested in a genuinely facinating horror plot - The Damned is a unique start to the 2025 theatrical roster for sure. Fantastic acting, engaging story and an overall extremely beautiful piece of cinematic eye candy, some genuinely skin crawling shots and creepy story development, accompanied with a fantastic score and continual mystery, even to the final act. The film starts at a steady incline, filling us in slowly but surely, then dips into a horrifying second to mid-act, however when the ending and climax finally arrives, I personally felt it felt extremely rushed, alongside the ending. The finale and conclusion acts, although piecing together, falls apart so heavily to where it takes you entirely out of the mood by the time credits roll. This was an extremely worthy and interesting theatrical debut, but I feel audiences will not sync with the rushed-feeling ending, which is a shame, because this film from beginning before end was tense, gripping and genuinely unique. Still worth a watch.

  • Good elements that become an endurance test.

Film all in all is not bad - the metaphors make it across the board, the characters and acting is well for the most part, the cinematography and thensome is phneomal, however the issue I personally had was the fact that the film dragged it's feet through thick mud. If you're expecting this to he a horror flick to the core, scary - immediately disregard that, this is an all in all very reality stricken tale of many challenging emotions like depression, grief and the repercussions of what our lashing actions can do. It really gets the messages across the board well, but as said, thick mud. I can see many people losing their patience with this one, finding it boring with its very prominent slow burn approach. This is a film to watch, if you're seeking to immerse yourself in this characters trauma and grief journey, as well as get a glimpse of some really well captured raw emotions.

I fully see where they were going, I personally enjoy the message and thensome, however with its extremely slow wrapping up and ending that ( for me ) felt like the capsize of this film, this was quite an endurance to sit through and watch. Mentally prepare and know what this film has to offer before jumping in.

  • Wonderful, inspiring and wholesome.

This is an instant hit if you're looking for a wonderful coming of age tale of what happens when you take for granted the norms in life, in exchange for the extravagant leap into the unknown. The characters have great chemistry - the messages and inspirational tones hit many notes, from low somber briefs to high exhilaration, all thanks to the chemistry between characters and natural progression with the plot. This film really nails together a great progression that'll have you feeling many emotions, ones as extravagant as our protagonists' dreams.

If you're looking for a beautiful anime across the board - whether it be the stunning visuals, the heart felt tones, or the great time of being youthful while we can, I can't recommend the film enough. This story comes full circle, leaves nothing out or desired for- it, on its own, is a star.

  • Decent little emotional romp.

The beast inside is a film a lot of people are certainly going to pass up and miss - I personally blame the marketing approach. This film, if going in with the correct mindset will genuinely, at the very least, give you something to think about. If you head into this film expecting a creature feature, or a straight up horror film, you may get disappointed. This is a somber, dark emotional subject matter tackled in a successful way. This film knew what message it wanted to convey and ran with it.

Although there's a good chunk of things that can be labeled as flaws, some pacing issues, some scenes dragging on too long, etc - this film wraps things up masterfully, especially the final stretch of the film. Some really good preformances and electrifying interactions as well - when you think about the nitpicks or issues with the film, it's shadowed by the real intentions of this beast.

This isn't a scary film, it's a film that's tackling metaphors, symbolism; this film gives a good addition to the werewolf subgenre by offering a little bit of a new twist with emotional intention. On a horror standpoint, if you're seeking blood, action, etc. Like that, however? You may be disappointed. Head into this with the right mindset, mentally prepare for a darker message than usual and you may just have a good time. Now awful, surely not the worst of the year.

  • See this film in theaters. Seriously.

This film surpasses at least 80% of 2024s theatrical lineup, it's gripping, enthralling and sincerely what a horror film should be. Outstanding acting performances and a captivating unraveling. You will find yourself completely glued with this story from start to finish.

The atmosphere is thick, and so is the silence. There were numerous white knuckled scenes of anticipation and many moments where my heart completely sank - which is impressive, being a horror movie frequenter, seeing basically everything out this year. Oddity is a treat. It's a film to pay attention to, with a story that, although seen before, unravels into a delightfully terrifying gem. I strongly recommend seeking this if it's playing nearby, dare I say it even - Oddity was certainly better than Longlegs.

10/10 for this experience, you've gotta owe it to yourself to enjoy this, if you're a horror genre fan.

  • The body AND the blood will feel distain.

To keep it short and simple, this is no Saw X or rising spirit for the Exorcist. No. Universal will be losing quite a lot of money on this fumble of a gamble. As a film, subtracting the exorcist part - it's boring. The characters have little to no substance, chemistry - humor, attempts at compelling story and even sense in general is all lost. This film bored my enthusiastic mindset to tears, and for the first time in years I have fallen asleep during a film. Not just horror. And I've seen trash.

Boring and completely lacking of anything redeeming or new, dull with zero payoff. The cameo doesn't save this movie, the writing and overall even more confusing final 20 minutes won't save this movie - God can't save you from this movie, but you can save yourself.

Biased conclusion, it's hard to even review this film. For it really felt like there's no substance to review with. Watch Saw X - better yet. Exorcist II. The REAL sequel.

  • Faithful to the fanbase without overkill.

Saw X set the stage for a lot of hype and speculation with fans, especially through my own eyes, however to keep it short and simple, this was a great time for Saw and horror fans alike.

Nod-offs to the original, character development that'll catch you off guard and a captivating overall story that brings a breath of fresh air to the Saw legacy, this film keeps things simple and inline with most of the expected Saw tropes and happenings, yet rears a new head with this unique installment story that shows character development, leading to ( again ) nod-offs with the original and Saw II. This film is worth seeing, redeeming 100% for ill feelings fans may feel from the previous two installments, Jigsaw & Spiral.

This captivating new installment doesn't fail, falls in line perfectly and doesn't skip a beat with it's loyalty return to roots. Recommended, fan or not!

  • The film proves to be solid, and creepy.

A bunch of these scientists have been experimenting with a serum known as the Lazarus serum, known to bring things back to life. However, when something goes horribly wrong, and one of the members, Zoe, dies, the team brings her back. But as they bring her back, they realize something has gone horribly, horribly wrong. The plot of this film I found to be quite unique. It was enjoyable to see a refreshing idea introduced into the horror world. Having a situation like this in a confined research center was great too, offering little, yet resourceful ideas for these characters to go through in order to stop the entity of which has possessed Zoe. The film also manages to introduce some intriguing back-story with the events of which Zoe is being put through, the said back-story not only clears up some events us audience are put through; the events also manage to give us more insight on our character, Zoe. The film's idea of having the team in such a confined area, as said before, managed to be quite tense, and quite creepy. There were scenes of this film where you see complete darkness, and creepy imagery of said entity from before, lurking, and stalking after these surviving characters. The death sequences featured were quite solid, and even ironic ( Reason saying that will be shown when seeing this film ) They feature little, to no gore, living up to it's PG-13 rating. Now, the characters we were given were pleasant, why? More than likely because we're given scientists / studying people. They know what to do, and not only do they NOT be stupid, but they also manage to make some quick, steady decisions that succeed in gripping our attention. Some things I honestly didn't like, however. This film tended to be a bit clichéd with the whole "possession" tactic, but what saved it was the refreshing approach toward it. They gave Zoe supernatural powers we've seen plenty of times before, nothing typically new on that note. The film dragged on a small bit, but in a respectful tone; either way, still dragging on with small talk. Finally, the ending of this film I found to be a bit ridiculous, I personally found it dumb that they threw it all back at us, of which said "all" shall not be spoiled.

In conclusion. This film wasn't the worst, it had it's refreshing, new moments, however, like most horror films to pop up like this one, it had it's clichés, as well as stupid, easily avoidable moves. Never the less, acting was solid, ideas were refreshing, the film managed to be tense, and creepy, and overall, for the most part.. successful. I'd recommend this for horror fans, if you're perhaps bored. This film, although refreshing, was honestly a bit generic.
