Despite massive blunders in many aspects of basic film making, bloated runtime and excessive melodrama, two outstanding set pieces carry this era to an end.
This film is centered around two set pieces, which both on their own are outstanding, even though one of them is derivative of MI:Fallout. Unfortunately everything around these set pieces is mediocre. The characters are bland, the movie seriously lacks powerful characters both on antagonist and protagonist team. The loss of Ilsa, under utilization of Benji and Luther and lackluster villain make the movie boring outside the set pieces. The mission stakes are too grandiose and convoluted for maximum impact.
This film has lots of "melodrama", which is just is gruesomely boring, or tacky or manufactured by too much thought. On top of this melodrama there is way too much fan service by means of montage, callbacks, character introductions and so on. Also after Ilsa, the overarching love/care act for Grace feels manufactured, out of character somewhat, and lacks depth.
Weirdly the most expensive and longest entry has the appearance of having less action than other entries.(not sure if calculating exact minutes) Here I am counting as action also heists and other "plotting scenes", because even though not strictly action, they carry movie forwards in similar fashion.
Unfortunately this movie is disappointing and falls behind Part 1 and most of the entries, maybe being on par with MI 1, as it also suffers from hugely and is carried by two set pieces.

Beautifully crafted movie about a wise and kind man at the outskirt of modern world.
This movie firstly seems to portray the start of a time in human history that saw the end of a wise man. The acceleration of technology, population and complexity of our world, doesn't seem to need old wise men to guide us. The world blows by so fast that now in single decade your knowledge about life is outdated.
Secondly it portrays the nature and the respect it commands. There are multiple scenes that show how the nature gives and takes, how humans need to do everything in their power to survive just the basic elements. Everything that were dangerous is now trivial in our world with housing, agriculture and technology.
That said. I go on for some film stuff. This movie mostly is brilliantly edited and well paced. The 2nd part drags. The tragic end is seen by miles before it happens There could be some trimming to be done from the part 2 to make it flow better.
This being Kurosawa means it is shot brilliantly, but unfortunately most version of this film circulating suffer from artifacts on color. I saw pretty decent version, not the horrible tv format, there is also rather good version for free on Youtube that is uploaded by the owners.

Must watch for Bong Joon-ho and Robert Pattinson fans.
Interesting collection of "clips", but total cohesion is bit lacking as full developing story. Even with some bad parts the flow of the movie remains good for almost the whole runtime, only at the end being bit dragged and cliche.
This movie is mostly showing incredible talent of Robert Pattinson's acting and imagination of Bong Joon-ho. As somewhat serious "social satire" it fails to connect deeply with its subject matters and falls short of most of Bong Joon-ho's earlier films.
As sci-fi it isn't super fresh, but does excellent for being more "light" on the sci-fi and being more about the "social satire".
With some alternations to the chosen scenes and bit more depth this could be near 9/10 movie. As it stands it gets 7,5 from me.
