Lasciarsi un giorno a Roma

  • Simple, honest, not great

    Nice, well acted, with a simple plot and an honest perspective on relationships.

    Pros:
    • as the title says, it's all about the breakup, its phases and evolution;
    • it's divided into chapters, and each of them begins with a key word that can be interpreted in different ways, showing how everything can be perceived differently.

    Flaws:
    • Zoe's character is flat, basically just a nasty lady;
    • some aspects of the relationships could have been analized more and deeply;
    • no memorable quotes or scenes;
    • despite the title expressly refers to Rome and the movie is set there, the city doesn't play a big role: some could say it does in Umberto and Elena's story, since Elena is Rome's mayor, but I expected more memories and poetic references to the city; so the title is mainly a reference to the song that's been played during the closing credits.
