Why did they refuse to show this in the US? Sounds pretty petty to me.
A complete waste of time and celluloid ( or tape or DVD or whatever) A tacky remake of of all the switch movies and a cast of minimal talent. I can't believe this dog made a profit? Probably based on all the inflated reviews by shills. Unoriginal plot acting at the elementary level, poor story line. Disjointed plot line also.
Started out as a predictable football movie but moved to Cross Country. Interesting as this is not a "Macho" sport and would appear to be unappealing to the former football players. Anyway good music and cinematography. As a former High School cross country geek-we NEVER insulted a rival team. We were undefeated my Senior year but we never gloated. The first meet shows the snobby kids from the rich suburban schools gloating. Maybe that's a California thing but we did not do it in Jersey-any you know how nasty we can be at times!!
AS far as the comparison to Chariots of Fire-that was a great movie. How one can knock it! BTW, it won the Emmy that year for best picture and also for best movie theme-so there!!

I grew up in South Jersey during the 60's. (To us natives it is either North Jersey or South Jersey) and actually played in a garage band during high school.
I lived down the street from where they filmed Doc's apartment and spent many summers "Down the Shore". I remember almost all the locations in the film. Anyway, for me this movie is a trip down memory lane. There are really very few goofs and the producers got it right for the 60's in Jersey. I first saw this in 1985 on video. I am currently looking at it 26 years later. Still tugs at the heart strings as it did a quarter of a century ago!

A waste of two hours. Try as hard as I can to be a supportive spouse; it was all I could do sit though this. The plot was thin and entirely predictable. There was little if any true chemistry between any of the major characters. The usual hackneyed stereotypes populate this movie-the gruff police captain, the stern African American female judge, the sleazy defense lawyer. The characters were all two-dimensional with no depth at all. No character development in a two hour movie. Most college film students could have done better. The melodramatic music did little to help the overall production.
No surprise outcome, no eleventh hour save. A waste of celluloid. Don't waste your time
