I've watched the Colditz series from 1972 many times and think it's great.
This movie is a worth-watch for anyone interested in old wartime classics. The acting is solid. Story is okay-ish based on how much content they have to pack into the time of a movie. There is some good psychology in it too.
It differs from the series in the terms of the acting being more "raw", it is not as developed and polished, perhaps, as the series. But that can work both ways. It can be seen as more polished in the way that it is less superficial or drawn-out, as i think the series is also not, just for the sake of making a point.
The violence is not graphic, but i like that more than otherwise. It shows the more realistic aspects of it.

The acting is somewhat decent at times. They could have made this great - but it sadly fails. It is too drawn out. It could have been less episodes, and rather have more compressed context. Some actors do a good job, others are more flat. Also not a realistic portrayal of Zulu contextual lifestyle. The acting direction is good, but the coherence is bad - it's hard to follow this series.
I don't recommend watching it unless one has absolutely nothing else to watch, or has a strong interest for the Zulu/British war, and don't care about it being historically accurate. For those types of fans and viewers, it's worth watching. It's not a complete flop. It just lacks everything a great series needs to have; Coherence.
