Dystopian...apocalyptic...so many of them now and most of them do not hot the right notes. This is one of them. The acting is (mostly) fine, but it reeks of the ideas already done to death in films and series.
The dialogue is bad and often makes no sense whatsoever... I didn't feel too much for the characters because there wasn't enough of a backstory or explanation or character development. It's like it was hurriedly put together by couple of students for an assignment. You can tell the actors and director have some real talent there but it really needs honing with better projects than this... i've tried to be as kind as possible.

The idiotic other reviewers have made regarding the acting, storyline, originality and quality have had me almost howling with laughter.
This is a terrible film, with horrendous acting, cheesy dialogue, ludicrous plot developments and basically bad writing.
It could have been so good...but frankly I just couldn't wait for it to end, at one point considering switching the film off to watch Baby's Day Out for more believable performances. The ending is lazy and pathetic, totally unbelievable and makes zero sense whosoever, in fact it actually contradicts a major element in the film.
It's up to you of course, but I'd recommend skipping this and watching either 'The Hunger Games' or 'Battle Royale', instead.

Firstly, I haven't read the book and couldn't care less about all the supposed "fabrications" because - let's face it - no good story is ever quite true.
Secondly, I loved the film.
Ignore the snooty attitude of some reviewers, this film carried a message:
Don't give up hope...learn and heal.
It was a good watch (if not great), the acting was superb, and the storyline unwound itself perfectly. There were some desperately heart-breaking moments and equally challenging scenes but the main feeling I came away with after watching it was...just don't give up.
