  • Another case of "just read the manga".

Despite waiting five years I was skeptical about how they would convey the original work in anime format, then I found out that the series would adapt everything in just four episodes. Needless to say... my expectations were in the middle, and it was a good call.

Gotta love when an anime leaves you with high expectations after a few (in this case the first) episodes only to destroy its production value over for the remaining of it, the anime industry being the usual. Not to mention the pacing is way inconsistent and it flat out ruins the atmophere, not once I've ever felt disturbed or intrigued when an horrific scene happens. Avoid this and read the manga instead, or watch Perfect Blue or Serial Experiments Lain if you're desparate for good Anime Horror.

  • So cute that it brings life.

A cute little movie that explores themes of changing and conflicts without taking itself to seriously. It has a beautiful/dark color palette that fits the tone of the movie, and there are lots of first person shots making up for clever character writing and development. The ending I though it was unconvincing at first but it took me a bit of time to realize it was actually satisfying and well directed. I think it's a little to short for its own good but not enough to break my enjoyment. It has the most colorful and charismatic cast of characters in a romance movie, I don't see how someone can remotely dislike them. Highly suggest it, although you might need to go through Tamako Market first.
