  • COPPOLA'S CLASSIC PARANOID THRILLER

Francis Ford Coppola brilliantly wrote and directed this classic slow burn paranoid thriller about solitude and guilt. It concerns a master surveillance expert named Harry Caul, remarkably played by Gene Hackman in a Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Film Award nominated nuanced multi-layered performance of great complexity, who has been hired by a mysterious, powerful and wealthy executive known only as 'The Director,' played by Robert Duvall in an creepy uncredited cameo, to spy on a young woman and her lover, played by Cindy Williams and Frederic Forrest. Caul must deal with Martin Stett the sinister and manipulative right hand man of The Director, superbly played by Harrison Ford in an early role, he becomes uneasy and soon has a crisis of conscience when his cryptic recording of the couple reveals that he maybe an accomplice to their murder. This intelligent film manages to be extremely disturbing at times, and the memorable ending where Caul is consume with paranoia and thinks that he is now under constant surveillance is unforgettable. Astute Golden Globe Award, BAFTA Film Award nominated, and Cannes Film Festival winning direction by Coppola, who also received an Oscar nomination for his engrossing original screenplay. Nominated for 3 Academy Awards including Best Picture.

NOTE: "The Conversation" has been selected by the Library of Congress to the National Film Registry to be preserved for being a culturally and historically significant motion picture.

  • A CLASSIC COMEDY WITH A FLAWLESS CAST

Mike Nichols' hilariously heartwarming classic comedy masterpiece that is bursting with laughter. About Armand Goldman, brilliantly played by Robin Williams in a very funny tour-de-force performance, the gay owner of a highly successful drag cabaret in South Beach Florida called the Birdcage, and his insecure partner and the club's flamboyant star drag queen, Albert, sensationally played by Nathan Lane in masterful comic performance that is a total laugh riot. Armand's 20 year old son, Val, wonderfully played by the charming Dan Futterman, announces that he is going to marry his girlfriend, Barbara Keeley, superbly played by the lovely Calista Flockhart, daughter of the uptight ultra-conservative Senator Kevin Keeley, marvelously played by the great Gene Hackman in a scene-stealing performance that is truly funny. Expecting that Senator Keeley won't expect his gay parents Val asks them for help, so Armand and Albert try to go straight just long enough to convince Senator Keeley and his mousy wife, Louise, terrifically played by Dianne Wiest. What follows is the most genuinely hilarious and uproarious dinner party scene in movie history. Special kudos to Hank Azaria for his hysterical performance as Armand and Albert's flaming houseboy Agador Spartacus, and Christine Baranski's outstanding turn as Val's natural mother, Katherine. Nichols' inspired direction is impressive, and the comic timing in this magnificent comedy is flawless. Gorgeous cinematography by Emmanuel Lubezki, with a witty screenplay by Elaine May, and beautiful Oscar nominated art direction and set decoration by Bo Welch and Cheryl Carsick. A feel good laugh out loud comedy that is one of my all-time favorites.

  • A BRILLIANT MEDICAL DRAMA TV SERIES WITH A SENSATIONAL NOAH WYLE

This new gripping and superlative TV medical drama series is truly impressive and highly addictive, I work at a major hospital in New York City for the past 37 years and I can tell you that the series' depiction of what takes place on a hourly basis in the Emergency Department of a city hospital in Pittsburgh is both accurate and very realistic. The series concerns the grizzled veteran Dr. Michael 'Robby' Robinavitich, brilliantly played by the charismatic Noah Wyle, who is famous for his beloved Emmy Award nominated portrayal of Dr. John Carter on the 90's classic NBC mega-hit TV medical drama ER. Here Wyle's compassionate Dr. Robby is the head of the Trauma unit in a Pittsburgh Hosptial, and faces the stressful and heartbreaking realities of life and death working in the E. D., he also is dealing with his own personal demons related to his nightmarish experiences with the COVID 19 pandemic that take the life of his mentor four year before. This is without doubt the finest performance of Wyle's career, filled with wisdom and empathy and he is utterly endearing. The young ensemble cast of medical professionals in the E. D. are all outstanding, especially Gerran Howell as the hapless new Dr. Dennis Whitaker, Tracey Ifeachor as Dr. Heather Collins the experienced doctor with a personal secret, Taylor Dearden as Dr. Melissa King a young doctor who battles with extreme anxiety, Shabana Azees as Dr. Victoria Jayadi the brilliant student in the shadow of her famous surgeon mother, Isa Briones as Dr. Trinity Santos the insensitive and self righteous student who is a real pain-in-the ass. I love this sensational medical TV medical drama which now streaming on Max. Good news 'The Pitt' which is a critical and rating success has been picked up for a second season.
