Mr Roustayi's written & directed this short about a mother who nearly ruins her children's financial future to save face / honor. Ms Faranak Kalantar plays the daughter (Later played by Ms Taraneh Alidoosti) while instead of father (Mr Saeed Poursamimi) from Leila's Brother, it's the mother here who putting everyone in danger (Magnificently played by Ms Fereshteh Sadre Orafaiy).
A thought provoking family tragedy where daughter (& later a brother) tries to be the sound of reason. There's a bitter difference here (Compared to 2022 picture) in form a twist which they eventually tell the mother and is cleverly juxtaposed with the chaos created by AC's blows.

I was mostly expecting a fun comedy but this turned out to be such a superb meta monster, the likes of which I hadn't seen since original Deadpool movie... And then the cast, script & visuals of Barbie went farther into some insightful, biting & modern thematic territories.
Ms Robbie & Mr Gosling shine exceptionally well and play flawlessly together. Hell, all the cast is sublime. I usually dislike Mr Farrell's antics but even they worked perfectly here. This has rightfully become the box-office king of the year (So far at least) and I truly hope it can also shine during the awards season. I know it's hard to include something called freaking Barbie among the end of the year awards / prestige selections but goddammit, this Barbie DESERVES it.

Mr Matuszynski directs this emotionally hard & challenging recreation of a crime committed by state policemen that turns political as it gets into the spotlight. In a way, this film reminded me of The Trial Of Chicago 7 from 2020. While the dialogue isn't as entertaining & engaging as Mr Sorkin's masterpiece, it does come pretty close in terms of engagement to paint a harsh & compelling picture for its viewers. Well shot & beautifully performed by a cast of young & old (Special mention for Ms Korzeniak & Mr Zietek), you don't want to miss this one.
On a side note, I can't believe this is the first user review & the Oscars didn't even bother to include it in their shortlist for international pictures. This grim gem deserves more.
