I was trying to watch a 7 minute video on Youtube today when they hit me with a 60 minute commercial! Since that's how they make money, I sit through most reasonable length commercials, but 60 minutes?? That's nutz!
I was just about to turn it off but the look was different, there was no one shouting about brighter shirts and whiter teeth. Credits flashed on screen, "Ellen Barkin"? "Scott Speedman"? What IS this I thought, and I kept watching. Shawn Hatosy was even in it! Whenever he came on screen I'd shout "Dunphy!" ( I LOVED his film "Outside Providence" ) It was great to see him working.
After I watched the whole thing, I thought I'd just seen the most fantastic, top secret short film ever! I had to go on the net for more information about it.
It turned out that it was the first episode of a new TV series!
This is going to be BIG!

I saw this at a west coast film festival that was part of a larger arts festival.
At the start of the film, she's seen climbing out of a window with the sounds of a fighting couple heard through the room's door. What I'm CERTAIN this depicts is the character "Vivian" escaping after being caught by the wife of the man she'd been seeing.
As become's evident to anyone with a heart and who's not a pompous ass, is that Vivian is a very lonely person who wants somebody to love her, like anybody would.
The next man she meets isn't anybodies idea of an ideal mate, but he's good enough. It's not like he's violent or anything.
I really liked this movie and I think that Liisa Repo-Martel is fantastic.
I've seen her in another film where she must have been in her teens or early twenties where she plays a girl from "the wrong side of the tracks" in a small town where people don't have much to do except for make you feel like you don't belong.
I think I'll go try and suss out what that film was. I would love to see it again.
