Seven descendants of Greek Mythological Heroes learn that they alone can stop Cronus, with their own special abilities. This show is one of the few I've seen that has been based upon Greek Mythology. Some people who are familiar with the legends about Achilles, Hercules, Artemis, Atalanta, Theseus, Narcissus, Odysseus, Jason, any Greek Hero that is mentioned in this new cartoon, and might dislike how some of the stories of these heroes and others have been changed, but personally I like how its different. Its a new take on the legends we already know... really, all of this Greek stuff IS a "legend" and like all legends, there are different versions of it that have been changed over time. This is just yet another new version, and I love it so far and can't wait for more. The action, the adventure, the drama, the hint of romance here and there... its, to me, an amazing show and thank goodness its on every day (at least on Teletoon =D ) because I can't live a day without seeing it--- I haven't seen it all, yet.
Pride and Prejudice... I started to read the book in the 7th grade (2 years ago) but never got to finish it (the school year ended, so unfortunately I couldn't read it, and I'm not close enough to a library to sign it out). So I admit, I did miss some of it although I finished three quarters of the wonderful story. As for the TV series, I saw part of one, but actually decided to change the channel because it was at the end of the whole series and I wanted to watch it at the start instead.
If you never read the book, and you never saw the series, you'll love this movie because it is a touching tale of love, and... of course, misunderstanding. Its a sweet tale, really.
Overall, I thought it was great. Because I haven't read the entire book, and because it has been so long admittedly since I read it, I found the story wonderful and at times heart wrenching. Those who faithfully read the book, and remember it well, may very well disagree with me, and the reviews that are a little less... kind... should show you that. However, the tale itself is great, and if you are someone who doesn't enjoy reading long books, and likes more modern movies, that aren't five hours long, and you love love stories, then this movie is for you.
The people who worked on this entire production firstly had to cram a fair sized book into 2 hours, a little over. It had to try and keep up the old fashioned setting, get actors that seemed compatible or not compatible, and direct it. A lot of you blame the actors in the movie, but a movie is only as good as its director, as good as its screenwriter. Actors alone can't pull anything off and personally I think given the script these actors had, it was done excellent. True, Mr Darcy didn't seem quite as proud, just more stubborn and... a tad... awkward, a lone-wolf type. And granted, Elizabeth seemed to like him at least a little from the start. Forgetting entirely what this movie was based on, you must love it, and I think its well worth watching at least once. It pulls off the old-fashioned setting, perhaps not exactly historically accurate, but lets face facts, few people watching this movie will notice that. This movie is not meant for adults alone--- otherwise, it would have been R-rated, but it was not. And that means it can't just tend to the likings of adults.
Give the movie a chance--- watch it with friends, and if you like it, let it be one of your favourites. If you don't like it, forget about it, make sure to have a funny movie with you and just enjoy that. Its fine to have an opinion--- its only when it gets dragged on, endlessly, that it becomes a little bit silly. Not everyone has the same opinion, some people such as myself loved the movie, others disliked it greatly--- but we're all bound to have different opinions and need to respect that fact.
