  • An uncomfortable experience that could have been better

A film about a man with mental illness who wants to recover his daughter, this really sounded who could mak me cry, give some big emotions, show the values of family but...no the movie choiced to be remembered for be very umcomfortable.

By a start the story really feels that is only 30 minutes of the entire movie, the main character does what he has to do to recover his daughter and let's just say with a poor method, I am not gonna spoil I'll just leave it there and the rest of the movie is just watch him deal with his mental illness through weird and some gory sequences that do not contribute to the development of something in anyway they just exist for he sake of be weird.

The writer could have shown some plotholes who are left through the entire movie, I mean they do explain some stuff but just thinking a bit logically from what we have in the summary here, why does a woman had a child with a person who obviously lacks his mental faculties? Did a mental institution really just let go this kind of man just like that without anyone to watch over him? They could explain that he ran away or something but they decided to spend time in uncomfortable scenes after all the main character has mental illness so the lack of progress is justified.

Indeed they are right Peter really just suffers through almost all the movie with his problems and they make sure to make some of them shocking enough, also he does not talk a lot something vital when he want to get some information about his daughter so the plot has to move some way to make him find her, I won't tell how it does it but once he make it try to think how did he got there and you'll see a problem.

Sounds like I didn't like the movie just because the mental illness but no! I have to say they really knew how to capture it and not only just see it but feel really in the case of sounds, we practically hear in some scenes what Peter hears in order to understand his situation better sad it only works as something decorative.

5.8/10 A story that needed more story development and less "let's be weird for the sake of it" factor.

  • Please take care of your eyes

A parody movie about a soda mascot that always solves his problems with said product, this surely should be funny unless you decide to be "very experimental" and decide to saturate the vision of your audience with a single color. Imagining it sounds funny, a way to parody the old western movies who only used black and white due to the time but now...it just is like that, the color changes with the staging or the emotions of the characters but honestly looks awful. In case you get used to it and do not get a headache when the movie ends you still will feel a bit disappointing.

That's because some jokes really do not give grace and the ones who give grace are random you know the ones who do not make the characters in question but how the characters interact with the enviroment, but hey I have a good reason for it, they have only one characteristic to show and so one joke from some of them at least the ones who are random enough.

Due to what I said that the story is turned into something predictable and I did not witness any effort to improve it, yes we have some jokes through the whole movie with some that I found very funny like I admitted but it does not help at all when the whole story is about bad boy does bad thing and ruins good boy but then good guy comes back and reestablishes the status quo a certain number of times through all the movie.

The other aspect that I liked besides some few jokes were the music that really is not so good but compared to the bad pop music made by four producers of today I can say that it was good especially the one that the protagonist sings recurely, is not a lot but I didn't want to be so negative.

5/10 A movie with some terrible saturated colors that only hipsters will give it a masterpiece title, if you manage to don't let the colors bother you then it will give you some giggles just that and nothing more.

  • I would give a 0 but the system does not let me.

There is not much to say about the material in question, putting it simply you have a dog and a man climbing a mountain for all the reasons you want it to give and...yeah they do, but you basically have to imagine 65% of the filmmaker's job. I know that this was done so that different viewers could build their story in a personal way and I peronally really like that idea to maybe improve your creativity but just be careful or you may end up becoming a "pretentious person" of the cinema, you know that kind of person who likes to see deep messages and various meanings in everything and lets his judgment be clouded by only a simple thing instead of be objective and see the reality, that's the only good thing I can think of.

Now the bad things....this is not a movie, the real movies have characters, stories, locations that have a narrative purpose to give a message or just be entertaining. This completely lacks one of them and the others that are presented are empty in content because you have to fill that content, and no being experimental doesn't excuse that.

Experimental cinema in easy words is try new techniques in an auditory, visual or narrative way, the auditory resource is 0 here that is not try new techniques that is remove them! Just imagine if I was making a movie and I want to be so "experimental" and I present to you a black screen with a sign in the middle that says "please imagine everything that happens in the movie, simply because I am very artistic and experimental I can get away with it." You will be pissed right? And with good reasons.

In conclusion this is not a movie...the only fact that it is considered one already and that has a passing grade is insulting, I consider this more for people who are studying cinema or something like that.

1/10 is the lowest I can give it and what it deserves just because it shows some interesting effects.
