  • First season 10/10 Second season 6/10

The first season was great. The second season had all the ingredients including his team from the first season but the plot was absurd.

Let's be clear here, in season one Billy's team had a decent chance of success only because they were playing mostly in the legal domain with a referee (the judge).

In season two they are up against a ruthless and powerful drug cartel (the trailer shows this so not a spoiler) and the plot absurdly has the cartel holding back from simply squashing them like a bug from the start. There's some weird sick violence committed by a dude who seems totally rational otherwise, and many other illogical plot points.

There are some great moments still. Late in the story Billy is in a dire spot and has to use his wits to get out of it, and the scenario is given extended time, just great acting by everyone in that episode, and the plot is reasonably plausible.

Likewise the relationship between Billy and his daughter is a high point.

Let's hope the third season Billy and his team get a better plot. Pit them against a plausible enemy where the playing field is more level.

  • Favorite western ahead of its time

I watched this series as a kid in Australia. It was my favorite western. Right from the opening credits it had a more contemporary and gritty feel. The outside location in AZ and not California made it stand out. The desert colors, the complex and not stereotypical western characters. The intercultural marriage, lead characters who reflected the mix of people who made the west the Wild West - awesome.

You have to wonder now how a high definition version on a streaming site would do. I think young people would like it. It was ahead of its time. If it doesn't sound too strange it reminds me a bit of the beloved Firefly series, refugees, outcasts and explorers in a gritty hot dusty Wild West of space instead of Arizona..,, Camaraderie and humor and danger and everyday patching stuff up to get by because you're out there on the frontier...

  • Great movie in the tradition of Truffaut and "Day for Night"

Like Truffaut's "Day for Night" (or "American Night") this movie is in the genre of stories about actors and acting. This production of Richard III traveled the world so there are awesome scenes in different countries, with different audiences, different challenges. Anyone considering a career in acting will be inspired. But it also has a lot of commentary on the play itself. Right now we are going through a Presidential election and it is scary how prescient and relevant Shakespeare is...

If you love theater, Shakespeare, or a good road trip story you will love this film. There's a lot of humor in it too.
