When I first heard of this new series, I was filled with hope when I learned that it was from the same directors of the current, truly superb remake of, "ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL". The fact that it was a brand new period drama series as well only added to my anticipation. However, although the idea and chosen period were promising, it rapidly became a huge disappointment!!! By episode 2 it was horribly apparent that this was just poles apart from the masterpiece that is, "ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL"!
This miserable new series seems intent on focussing on all the negative traits of humanity... hatred, cruelty, nastiness, rudeness, immorality and pride. Such a waste of a good cast!
When will people learn the reasons why "ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL" is so popular. Not only does it have a perfect cast but it's ethos, in complete contrast to this miserable series, is a complete opposite, focussing on the goodness, kindness, honour, altruism, wisdom and intelligence of humanity. The wit, humour, joy, warmth and hope beautifully balanced with the sadness, fear, regret and suffering that is part of the human experience. This exquisite multi-season series lifts the audience up, affirms our humanity and reminds us of what we can aspire to. Whereas, "The Hardacres" leaves the audience feeling miserable, disappointed, despondent and many more negative emotions. Not something we need in this present troubled world.

What a waste of some good actors' skills and time. This series began with such promise. Season 1 was fair to middling, with just enough to create interest in watching Season 2. However, Season 2 rapidly declined into something close to absolute farce! The various plots became so ridiculous which in turn dragged the reputations of the otherwise good actors down with them. The script got worse and the idea that intelligent, highly-qualified V
vets could behave so stupidly, was totally ridiculous! The scenery was beautiful, some of the music was ok but sadly, I feel obliged to warn people not to waste their time on this truly disappointing, totally unrealistic TV series.
