I have seen other adaptations of the Forsyth' s book and this one is a really good thriller series. It moves all around Europe to show beautiful urban and countryside scenes.
The plot keeps your attention and makes you sympathize with the sniper. Time to time I was thinking of how ethical it is to depict a killer in such attractive light, but I must understand it is a common trend in cinema. And I was quite glad to guess that the ending of the series contains the promise of the season 2.
Eddie Redmayne is not my favourite actor, but oh my Gos, he really IS The Jackal, a ruthless, cold-bloodied, highly skilled and very dangerous killer. What makes a damage, is his antagonist played by Lashana Lynch with emotionless face expression throughout all 10 episodes. I really wonder how such a rude and unruly person (and a woman!) can be in the position she holds.
All in all, I truly recommend the series.

If you have seen two films or series after Harlan Coben, you may relax, you have seen all other as well. Two or three crime storylines tightly wowen together and making the audience believe that most of the people are sick and have deadly secrets from each other.
The producers have ticked all cast boxes nicely and if I thought I was going to watch series of English crime set somewhere in England, I was wrong. It was a story of crime which took place somewhere in Africa. Nice place really, beautiful views, beautiful hills and lakes. I give three stars alone for the scenery.
Cannot tell anything specific about actors and their play, it was dull and boring, even Richard Armitage didn't please.

I have watched 3 episodes so far and find Conflict a very good series, a realistic simulation how it could happen.
The politicians as always act hypocritically and want to solve the military crisis in a diplomatic way. They think, the military crises can be ruled out but it cannot. I believe, all European politicians would act as the ones in the series, and when all diplomatic ways are used, they would be the first ones to flee.
After three episodes it is unknown which country is behind the occupation, but I think, we all know Russia is meant to be the country. The sleezy way of occupation, lies and, after all, the fact of occupation itself point to Russia. However, the mild way of the occupation says we still naively think the Russians would act as civilised people, but we know from Ukraine they would kill people, destroy infrastructure, loot, rape, torture and behave like monsters. No way, a car with the locals could freely drive around and take pictures as in the 2nd episode or a suspicious man could walk around the strategical place as in the 3rd episode. They would be killed instantly without any doubt.
Anyway, I really like the series, well shot, good script, good cast with absolutely gorgeous Peter Franzen in the main role.
Update. I presume uncharacteristically many negative marks given to reviews which describe the Conflict as a realistic scenario performed by Russia indicate the Finnish series have targeted in the bullseye. For this I would gladly give the series full 10 points!
