Whatever this is, it isn't worth your time. I put it on for my kid without checking the score as I assumed the SB brand would be of a certain quality. Wow. This film is incredibly subpar. Worse than the poor script and poorer CG is the disturbingly surrealist sequences that play out like you've been dosed. I'm only suffering second-hand as I'm working from home and can only see/hear it from my desk but I'll ask the kid who just finished the whole film... He says it's "very weird" and not as good as the other SB films. Well, what a surprise that they released such a strange movie. Certainly do not waste your money on it in any form. It's not worth it.
I was astonished at the incredibly low budget, poor script, terrible acting and (most of all) the awful costuming. For a brand known for its killer outfits, this imagining lacked both originality and style - what a shame.
Worst than not living up to the aesthetic standard was the heavy-handed agenda that felt overly forced on a very young target audience. MH has always attempted to demonstrate inclusivity but this just felt unnatural and inauthentic and more like box-ticking than actually being made with any genuine feeling.
Furthermore, it feels like the audience was never properly defined so I am unsure if this is for children or teens or tweens because it's just all over the place. As an adult collector, I am perhaps not the target audience. That said, I really enjoyed the OG animations, both series and films. So I do believe that, if it was done correctly, a live action film could be amazing for all ages.
My advice is to avoid this cringeworthy piece of media that has nothing to do with the OG MH vibe.

I tried a couple of times to watch this but it's excruciating to watch in both the animation style and colour palette. Furthermore, the jokes (?) fall flat. Given that intellectually and stylistically, it's geared towards teens, I don't really think the language suits the audience. Throwing in swearwords and adult contexts doesn't automatically make a show for an adult audience. Honestly, I'm not sure who this is even for - except maybe those awkward DeviantArt lurkers. If this is where adult animation is heading, it's a shame because this is a juvenile and unfunny offering that smacks of trying to be edgy but failing in every way. Sorry I couldn't be more positive but I couldn't even sit through the show let alone find a good angle to come from. Poor!
